Hottest game in the NFL in 15 years. And the refs must have sweat in their eyes. Missed a PI call on Telvin Smith where he was grabbing a Pats jersey while the ball was in the air. And 3rd and long, Ngakoue loops around untouched and drives Brady to the turf.
Eh smith totally lowered his helmet to attempt a hit
His head dropped BBC his shoulder did. I thought it was clear he tried to lead with the shoulder. Perfect example of why this rule is so bad: in a lot of cases it's incredibly subjective.
Makes teams earn every yard. They don't seem to give up anything easy.
Not this drive, Pats are moving. And I know people hate that penalty but under the rules that’s the right call
Point is, there's no missed assignments, or anything soft. They make you earn everything and don't give you anything easy IMO. I'm not saying you can't drive against them but it's a grind to do.
people in LA don't care about the NFL. Plus, many of the people who do are from somewhere else. Lots of transplants in LA
Basically true -- USC and UCLA football, and Pac-12 football beyond that has deep roots here. However, to be fair, the Rams were VERY popular here for a generation, until they moved to Anaheim. The Raiders are still popular here, probably more popular than the Rams. The franchise relocations really broke faith with the fans, and having the Rams move back and the Chargers leave San Diego for L.A. isn't helping that sense that these are carpetbagging owners who don't care about the city or the fans. I doubt the Chargers have made any new fans in Los Angeles since moving. The Rams are doing a little better because they're good.
I drove by the site of the new football stadium last week; it's less than half an hour from my neighborhood and it's going up fast. I think it'll become a legitimate destination here. It's in a slightly odd location, under the approach to LAX, kind of like the Shea/Citi Field site near LaGuardia. I wouldn't have chosen that spot for the new home of the NFL in L.A., but what do I know?
Bortles was so panned last year he's now seemingly underrated.
He's got a 4K 35/TD under his belt, and has had very underwhelming offensive weapons most of the way.
He's not a great quarterback but he's not the laughingstock a few obsess he is.
the perception issue with him is that the ball just comes out of his hand weird most of the time. As you say he's not great at all but he's reasonably serviceable if you scheme things well. There are worse QB's starting.
If Manning throws 3 picks but he make up for them with 3 or 4 TD passes, who cares about the picks....Brady just wins...Bortles has put up 28 on the Pats today.
spot right there. They get all the benefit of the doubt. Another reason I hate them.
LOL no, it was a bang bang play that clearly looked like a first. Nothing to do with the Patriots. Was literally inches. And it was overturned. So obviously not a Patriots call.

It was overturned AFTER Jax was forced to throw a challenge. Big difference.
Anything gained by the Pats offense at this point is garbage time Â
But it sure looks like Eli and co played better. If the Oline played just a touch better, I think the Giants win the game. Excited to watch how they do tonight
Of Tha Jags Dline and Oline. They can attack the passer and Bortles has nice pockets. I have zero QB envy. We have a great QB. Hoping the Giants can win the trenches again. One day.

Bortles looked pretty doggone good, He ain't Eli, but.....
Every game went our way, even the game that don't really matter Â
Yes, he played very well. All credit to him, with an assist from his Oline who enabled him to shine. He’s no Eli, but he played very well.
One play in particular as an example of the QB and Oline playing as complements, Romo praised Bortles for being patient with the free blitzer baring down on him, getting the pass off. I thought, “Well, yes, easy to do when there’s no jailbreak”.

He but, but, but, Bortles isn't any good.. two great catches by Cole.
Early, but Jags defense destroying NE Oline too...actually Giants oline looked better.
Watch long enough and you'll see

Their receivers get open, they catch passes, and their QB's don't sail uncatchable balls all over the place.

See what? More completed passes?

true enough....
Guess you didn't watch the Jets, Dolphins, Browns, Saints, Bills, Vikings (treadwell) today or the Patriots right now

Pathetic, half-full, maybe?

Skins fans at FedEx were no different. Empty. Home opener after trouncing the Cardinals? I guess the fans knew better.

Maybe because they can't? Bortles is carving that D up. Jax Oline blocking NE rush like it doesn't exist.
Pats won't go out easily. But Jax looks very good.
Our D gave up 13 pts...1 TD & 2 FGs..
(2) Can't get off the field on third down.
Giant fans can feel a bit better if the Jags maul the Pats.

Close, on replay it was closer than I thought. But 8 minutes, 3 points up by 3 TDs..
Right now Pats not able to stop the Jags.
See how Brady responds...

It's a penalty I prefer they never call because it's a cheap new set of downs, but it did look like a penalty to me.
They might as well play Rosen and get on with what will be a 3-year rebuild
Patriots made a big mistake not drafting Darnold....
(Sarcasm off)

Eli at all this week.

Really pleased we didn't go down the illusion of the BB coaching tree.
He belongs on good morning America
Stupid sexy Patriots
He belongs on good morning America
Haha.
Now he just said New England's got them on their toes. Lol. Wouldn't that be heels?
Jimmy G has 30 points but a lot left on the board.
The one time Jim and Tony are actually not saying anything we get to hear that. Lol.

These refs across the league suck.

That's a flag that should be picked up. Garoppalo never even looked at that side of the field - focused on Breida only.
They are calling a DB touching a TE's pads as he comes out of a cut.
Ridiculous interpretation of holding, and that's a game-changing call
And Thomas drops the first down.
