The decision isn't so much the hot arm. But rather does the Bucs want to commit to Winston going forward. He is in year 4 of his rookie contract. They had to pick up his 5th year option in May. Then it comes out that Winston is assaulting Uber drivers. While he had his red flags when he was drafted that the Bucs were fine with, Winston has continued with questionable behavior.
The Bucs can choose to go in a different direction. They have already removed his face off of banners at the stadium and other promotional material. They can opt to put Jameis in a bubble and release him next year as the 5th year option is guaranteed for injury only.
His 5th year option will pay him $20MM. If they sign him to an extension, then they will be forced to pay the market rate of $30MM/yr. My guess is that the Bucs may decide that they don't want a shoplifting, sexual predator as the face of their franchise.

Fitzpatrick is 35. The Bucs will need a QB moving forward. Do they cut/trade Winston, sign Fitzpatrick for 2-3 years and kick the can down the road like the Giants sorta did?
I think you're just jealous you don't have a track suit like that...
Hillbilly McGregor was my first thought
Agreed. It's a great look. Grizzly Adams meets hip-hop.
