NGT: Damontae Kazee hit on Newton

MBavaro : 9/16/2018 7:48 pm
Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a game or two for this.

This is the guy that took out Lee of the Jags in preseason.

If this has been discussed in the 1 pm game thread, I'll delete

Not a clean hit

cant stand Newton but no one deserves that.
For a moment,

I thought I’d read about an openly gay player in the NFL.
He was ejected from the game

I think he should get a fine, but no suspension at this point.
But that hit.
Beezer : 9/16/2018 7:53 pm : link
Dumb ass.

Deserves a suspension IMO.
You want to really do away with this stuff?
Beezer : 9/16/2018 7:54 pm : link
One game, unpaid.

I wouldn’t have a problem with two games, unpaid.
I disagree with most hits that result in penalties

but this was a no-brainer. There is no defending that. Bullshit.
Haha, he

didn’t even buy Cam dinner first.
Newton was already

sliding. I'd go with a fine and a 4 game suspension. That is bullshit. Imagine if it happened to Eli.
Kazee, Berhe and Munson

come from an old-school, hard ass coach in Rocky Long from San Diego State. They aren't afraid of contact, that's for sure.
Damontae Kazee?

More like Demented Kamikazee!
The hit on Lee in preseason was dirty

and he should have gotten discipline for that one.

The "leading with helmet" penalty appears to have had a very short life. There was only one called league-wide in Week 1.

In its usual half-assed way, the NFL only conceived of the "leading with helmet" rule as protecting tacklers from themselves: a reflex reaction to the Ryan Shazier paralysis.

Just as much of the rationale should have been to prevent those on the receiving end of a helmet being used as a weapon.

If Kazee had been fined/disciplined for the preseason hit on Lee, today's play probably doesn't happen.

After going in low,
MBavaro : 9/16/2018 8:06 pm : link
he then lowered his head more before contact. I know game speed makes it hard to react/change your momentum. But this almost looked intentional.

At the very least, he made no effort to avoid head-to-head contact. He didn't have much time to react, but it looked like he basically just didn't.
Nice defense there

that’s the first time it’s looked like Bettcher dialed up a call that worked like a charm
