hopeful for this season, just expecting a competitive team..but seen this story too many times since 2012. Season already feels like its over, so unless they pull a 2007 next week, I'm not going to waste my time. I don't think Eli is bad, but he's not good enough to overcome the weaknesses anymore and it's pretty clear now he's not going to be a solution. Barkley is definitely special, but I don't understand how the fuck they don't get the ball to Beckham..it's frustrating and boring to watch.
RE: What is frustrating is they have some good talent in key positions Â
so its not a wasted pick, and in truth no one knows how the QB class from this draft will be. But, this feels like a rock bottom type of loss tonight. Eli taking that kill shot running the ball in an impotent manner. He does not look like a play maker anymore on this team and it kills me to say it. I do not want to see him get beaten week in and week out.
This o line is a joke and the Giants must lead league in rushes for loss and is Barkley did not have that shake and bake stuff it would be worse.
This team may not win more than four five games though, maybe less, so hopefully there are some QB's coming out this year.
This team sucks and is still likely bottom three in league
DG was the safe pick. Shurmur the safe pick. Keeping Eli and taking Barkley was the safer course, and did not alienate the fans who still idolize Eli. It’s all been conservative and safe and it has set back the Giants. Eli did not have 3 good years left 2 years ago. It’s pathetic.
After last year was wrong:
GM
Coach
Sticking with Eli
Player acquisitions
Etc
Forget 30 points, these guys can’t put up 20 on a consistent basis. Might be the worst offensive team in football. And they have Beckham and a guy the GM said was touched by God!
I knew we were fucked when I heard Gettleman mocking analytics in one of his draft pressers. We're stuck in a bygone era, and it starts at the top. You have to be out of your mind at this point to think we'll fix this with Eli at the helm.
more that things change, the more they stay the same."
We made a lot of changes to the OL, but it's still basically the same. We still can't pick up simple blitzes and stunts, and get no push on the LOS in the run game. I'm beginning to think the Solder and Omameh contracts were a mistake. Even with a new GM and coach, this team still can't find good OL.
Eli is David Carr at this point. He's taken too much of a beating to be effective. He's totally immobile, and therefore needs a nearly perfect OL to be effective. We don't have anywhere near that level of OL play.
As I said, I think Lauletta will play at some point this year, and this may well be Eli's last season with the Giants.
What was the point of drafting Barkley if you're not going to use him? Â
4 carries in the first half? Are you for real with that? We re-sign Odell to a huge contract, we only pass to him twice.
Shephard, Engram, Latimer, were nonexistent. Shurmer NEEDS to justify his playcalling. We should demand to know how they prepared for this game and what their offensive philosophy was for this game.
Might as well start Lauletta next week against Houston. Can't be worse than what we already are, the worst team in the NFC.

So far I'd say they have literally nothing else.
I'm not sure if Eli still has it or not. He made some good plays in this game, but ...
But it's not in the way that everybody is evaluating him, it's mental. He's had such shit on the OL for years that his internal clock is completely fucked. The OL sucks, no question. However, bad OL play is rampant in the league and he's as bad as they come in dealing with it today. He's not the same guy that stared down the niners rush in 2012.

I almost feel bad for these guys are going to get crushed Â
Every week from the media about shit snowballing, when are you gonna win, going thru the motions, etc....but fuck ‘em. This was their plan. It was the wrong one as many here, myself included, pointed out.

Could it be the scouts?
Or maybe the VP of Player Evaluation ... hmm ...

He was featured a lot on screes and passes, the one scoring drive the team had he was the main reason it happened along with the one long pass to Latimer.
In terms of hand offs or running the ball, I assume the guys in the booth are watching the o line get obliterated on all power type running plays. Not just stood up, or a run for no gain, but destroyed like little girls.
This may play into the play calling decisions.

I’d rather be 0-2 and WAY worse as you say with a 22 year old QB waiting in the wings.

Exactly. You can build a team around Rosen. What the fuck are we gonna build around? We need a whole line of Pro Bowlers just to be competitive.

Dead franchise.
Dead man walking QB.
Brain dead management who fucked up the most important draft pick in decades.
Dead 2018 season.
Fuck this entire franchise. Another wasted season and summer hasn’t even ended yet.
That's about the size of it. In the past three years this franchise has had two enormous opportunities to chart the course of the future. The 2016 cap space and then this offseason - everything they did was wrong. Everything.
is definitely part of the problem. As someone said. bad OL play is rampant, but other QBs are still more effective because they are mobile. The Giants overestimated how much they fixed the OL, and how important that was for Eli to be effective.
The blew the most important draft pick in decades Â
And the forthcoming QB class is supposedly not as good as this past one. I think Barkley is great and I don't even think some of the accolades they gave him were unfair, but he was not the correct pick for the Giants. This was a tremendous mistake, but they made it and now they have to deal with it.
Giants were faced with the same exact scenario in '03-'04 Â
Oline sucks, Dallas much better then folks think. Dak can throw better then people thought. I just don’t understand how people could dismiss this Dallas team given the circumstances.

I was laughed at a few weeks ago for saying I'm more excited about the Knicks' future than the Giants' future. We're in the abyss.

Probably will have another shot at a QB this year, maybe they should make the right decision this time.
