Fans can act anyway they want....it should have no bearing on an org's decisions. The problem was Mara's reaction to the fan outcry when Eli was benched.
I am an Eli supporter. But he has to play better. Cowboys blitzed almost every play in the second and third quarters and Eli did not make them pay once
Shurmur's gameplan was obviously shit and did not play to Eli's strength. But Eli is part of the problem, along with the OL and other things.
last year, I would have thought it was impossible that Eli would ever be benched again. Now, I'm not so sure. I do agree that if he's benched again, his time with the Giants is over. But it may also be moot, because I'm even less sure that he won't get hurt from all these beatings.
Eli will be gone next year if he does not play better
and if he has a few more games like today, he will be benched
no chance will he be benched...
benching him last year was the right decision yet fans crucified the giants
Big difference between this year and last year. Season was already gone and Webb was obviously not the answer. So there was nothing to be gained by benching him. Mac did it out of peevishness
This regime obviously likes Lauletta and cutting Eli after the season will be much less of a cap hit than last year.
I know as fans we are jaded at this point, but Eli got his get of jail free card last year. It won't happen again.

The fact that possibly the worst coach in Giants history was fired only because he sat his scrub QB because a bunch of mouth breathers complained tells you everything you need to know about our ownership.
According to over the cap his cap savings will be $17 mil with $6.2 mil in dead 💰. The dead money this year would have been$17 mil. They prob couldn't have resigned OBJ if they cut Eli this year. I wouldn't be shocked if they cut Eli during the off-season
Our D did. By the end of the year, we were winning games 10-7 (Dallas), 13-10 (Washington), etc. We have not scored 30 points in so long, it's bordering on ridiculous. Our offense continues to look pitiful. And while we have one of the best RBs in the league, we will continue to royally stink because our OL and QB are terrible now.
We passed on a QB in a QB rich draft, and like I said then and I repeat now, we will pay for that for possibly the next decade or two. And I don't know why we ultimately did. Is it because DSG thinks it's 1968? Is he an Eli apologist? Is he old enough that he cares about winning now rather than the future? Were the owners scared of the backlash of picking a QB? All of the above?
What I do know is that DSG flaunts his rejection of analytics, which is something the most successful teams use to their advantage. So I do know that he is not cut out for this job.
Remember when everyone was criticizing others for voicing their displeasure with the decision to pass on a QB, saying sure you know more than a GM? DSG doesn't look too smart anymore, does he? We are going to rue the day we passed on Darnold, which is something many other football people (Aikman, Collinsworth, etc.) have stated. But our awful GM doomed us for years.
You must be on crack. The talk all throughout this game and after on radio and tv is the OL not being able to pick simple stunts that you are taught in high school. Eli can not throw the ball when he is either being sacked or running for his life. I am looking forward to hearing you when the next QB does put on a Giants uniform. Eli is not the problem, Eli’s protection is.

Eli is part of the problem. You are on drugs if you think otherwise. The OL is the main problem, yes, but Eli is not making the right reads, and he's probably gun shy at this point so all he does is check it down. We have one of the best weapons in ODB, and we can't even find ways to get him involved in the game. It's sickening to watch.
You guys. Sure the Giants organization wants to treat the QB who Â
and if he has a few more games like today, he will be benched

Eli doesn't escape scrutiny from that one either. He could have helped diffuse the situation and chose not to.
I heard Cowherd say this the other day, is this a valid story? If so, it is disturbing on so many levels.

I think the Eli backlash is overblown.....this offense scored 10 points in garbage time at the end of the game while trailing 20-3......

Of course. Everyone was on board including Mara. Eli made the situation bigger than it was & the fans bought billboards bashing the franchise
Half of this fan base are mouth breathers frankly.
Yeah he was awful leading them to the playoffs in 16 and especially in the playoff game at Green Bay. 🙄

for how they acted last year.

i dknt think they passed on a qb because of eli, k think they passed because they were comingnoff of a shit year and didnt want to miss on the pick..
they took the safest pick in the draft
*Not a flying saucer made by the US Government.

Giants passed on a quarterback because Mara was afraid of fan backlash had they taken one in the draft.

That's an interesting take.
Those guys are going nowhere Lauletta and his canon for an arm is not the answer

But the NFL is a business and success or failure of this franchise means millions of dollars.
Eli was well-paid, and he'll be in the Circle of Honor or whatever, but from now on it's all about turning the franchise into a winner again.
