First of all, Deshaun Watson and everyone's favorite Patrick Mahomes came from a draft that everyone said sucked for QBs. So let's not make any proclamations yet for the 2019 draft. Any ideas who can be a contender in 2019 to be drafted high? I heard Herbert and Grier, anyone else?
If you want someone who can have a meteoric rise, look north. There's a 6'7, 245 pound QB in Buffalo named Tyree (cool name, right?) Jackson. He has a howitzer for an arm and is very athletic. If you liked Josh Allen, you're gonna love Tyree Jackson.
He won't be ready right away because of the system he runs at Oregon, but if he has the tools to be really damn good.
Herbert is gonna have his best test of the season on Saturday night against Stanford. It's going to be aired on NBC.
Here's a thread on him by a Draft guru. It's a shame that his receivers are shit this year. - ( New Window )

I personally don't like Josh Allen, haha. Though maybe he the next big thing I don't know.

I've read that some people think he has a slow release, what say you?
Grier has really grown on me. He’s the real deal. I see a better pro prospect version of Mayfield. I could see him easily in the top five discussion come February.
Both crops of OL and DL are very deep.

Yup, good for us
They’re not even close.
This does not appear to be a strong QB draft
The top 4-5 last year are better than any QB eligible for the draft
The strength of the draft is defensive and offensive linemen
Last year was the year to select s QB

I believe Tua is a true sophmore. Not draft eligible.
As for this year, I like Drew Lock a lot. He has wonderful arm strength and throws a terrific deep ball, but he's not a particularly good athlete.
Will Grier is a player who I think can be very good as a non-first round pick.
In any case, this does appear to be a deep draft in OL which is good. Giants should be able to take the top OL at this pace.

are probably the best of the bunch. I don’t think any are as good as Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield.

And I think this was the point of the "We should have drafted a QB" group.
Not only did it seem unlikely that the Giants would be drafting near the top of the draft again (although that does seem a lot more likely now) the thought was that even if they did, the QBs this year were not thought to be on par with the top 4 QBs from this most recent draft.
But I hear there are plenty of ways to get a franchise QB. Maybe the Giants' plan is to stockpile 6 RD picks so that they have a better shot at drafting the next Brady.
I love Jonah Williams, but I bet DG likes Greg Little of Ole Miss more. He's bigger, so he fits the Hog Mollie mold.
Throws a terrific ball. Solid throwing mechanics.
But it’s hard to get a read on him - yet - because that oline for Ohio State has been really good so far in pass protection. He is getting a lot of time to throw.

Last year, when he had to step into the Michigan game, they were getting pressure, but he does stand strong in the pocket. Not quite sure how his mobility is, but I don't doubt his ability to perform under pressure.
Why the concern with Grier being 24 next April?

He has enough mobility to escape when needed. He's not a running QB but he can move when necessary.
TCU played him very tough on Saturday. Receivers were dropping passes and seemingly every snap was low. He still put up 330 yards and 2 TD. He sees the field very well, has great anticipation and can throw receivers open. In addition to having a lot of arm talent. I think he's going to be in the mix by the end of the season in a somewhat weak QB class

I like Grier and Lock the most. My concern with Grier is that he will be 24 in April. I like Lock also as he has a great arm and he can extend plays with his legs. Daniel Jeremiah compared Lock to Mahomes. Herbert is very talented but he seems like a project.

I just worry about older players because many of them are just great college players because they are playing against younger kids. His age isn't a huge red flag it is just something to consider in the evaluation process. Grier does check off a lot of boxes for me.
