We have spent a lot of time hearing over the last 16 losses out of 19 games have not been Eli Manning’s fault.
Well, lets try the reverse.
When was the last time Eli Manning was the REASON the Giants won?
Not in a loss- like Philadelphia or the Green Bay playoff game. Not that he played well.
When was he the the reason the Giants won a football game?
That he was the MVP of the game? Any regular season win?
I actually cannot even think of the last time that he tore through another team like Ryan Fitzpatrick has for 2 weeks or lead the team to a come from behind win and steal one like Case Keenum did yesterday.
Ill answer the question.... 2011. Can we delete this now?
A 16 pt output in which Eli had no TDs but the defense had a TD and the Giants defense held Drew Brees to 13 pts? Eli was the reason they won?
Maybe Eli wins the Cowboys game. Only 200 yards passing and 2 turnovers but he did manage 3 TDs that game which is unfathomable right now. So the opening game of 2016 maybe. Id probably go with the run defense who held Ezekiel Elliott to 50 yards on 20 carries.
Against NO he made big play to Cruz to set up game winner. I would take that Eli over the shell shocked one we are seeing now.

That is true
It doesn’t matter how much Eli had in the tank or how much is his fault though. This team took on qb hell long term and sold the fan base on the one last hurrah; a totally laughable notion for anyone watching with any objectivity given the state of the entire roster. I really hope Eli just calls it quits at the end of this year I really don’t want to see him play another 30 games like this for his and the team’s sake.
All true. BUT....certain players are capable of - despite otherwise lackluster offensive team performances - putting the team on their shoulders and REFUSING to lose...Brady...Brees...Rodgers...Ben (at times)
Unfortunately...Eli is just not wired this way
It’s funny, i’ve had the same thought all morning. Pick Nelson, maybe Braden Smith or they still end up with Hernandez.
If they were in win now mode like they say, would it not have made sense to use the first two picks on offensive linemen? And i understand it is not a good habit to pick out of neccesity, but a perceived elite guard prospect was there and many fringe late 1st early 2nd linemen as well.
I was in the qb camp (but i wanted Mayfield, i admittedly wasn’t the highest in Darnold)
With a team this shitty, maybe the obvious path was to trade back and accumulate talent.
I was in the Darnold camp and had nothing to do with Barkley who is going to be an impressive player.
I just think the fact this team needed to be broken down to nothing. Start with a new OL. Start with inside and build out.
Eli is obviously isn’t the future and his warts are well known. However... he doesn’t deserve to go out like this.
A great pro for sure but its over...
Great stuff as always.
I have believe there's more of an Eli Sucks Club around here, which is absolutely fucking bizarre. Maybe it is something to do with being a Canadian, but it probably more lies in being an absolute fucking moron.
This will not get better most likely in fact worse is more likely if he continues to play. He is now traumatized and he now is staring at more beatings in the pocket.
and while i know dep was preaching darnold and a rebuild there were plenty of delusional people who thought letting manning play a few more years made sense. and they were pretty loud and insulting to those that questioned things.
Defenders of the faith... unite!

I still feel as though drafting Darnold, Eli still should have been the QB this year. And Darnold in 2019 or at the end of this year.
But, IMO, drafting Darnold and putting him behind this OL is something that could have been a huge negative too. We can blame everyone under the sun but Eric said it best last night...
Pugh, Richburg, Flowers were just HUGE busts that have put this team in the shitter now and for years to come.
His fucking "Eli Fanboy Club" line makes it sound like that kind of shit shouldn't happen on a Giants board.
I'm a fan of the team and I'm a fan of every one of their players and for that, there's a derisive moniker created?
And yes, I find it bizarre that parts of a team's fanbase openly dislike players and coaches who contributed to greatness. I absolutely hate the fact the team isn't competitive, but if you find me personally attacking the people I'm supposed to root for, then put me in a mental ward.
Not saying he will do any better, but what’s the difference?
Spare me the we don’t want to ruin our younger guys crap too...
This is another matter altogether than worshipping at the altar of Manning, which is a large part of what I have seen happening over the last several months in particular since his benching.
Not sure if Les is in the former camp, or is noticing and reacting to the latter. But the latter is very real around here.

Les is an avid Eli hater. I have no problem I am admitting I am a bigger fan for Eli than most fans and tend to make excuses for him.... but Les literally roots for him to fail. I dont classify Les as a Giants fan whatsoever.
Its not hating to acknowledge the obvious.
In 2011, with the leagues worst rushing attack and a decimated O-line - how many centers did we go through - despite all that, Eli tied Johnny Fucking Unitas' league record for 4th quarter comebacks in a season.
From his rookie year through that season, Eli was an absolute 4th quarter menace. It got to the point where no matter how bad the Giants were getting their asses kicked, I couldn't turn the TV off because sure enough, as the clock winded down and defenses went into prevent mode, Eli thrived, he was as good as I've ever seen - as good as any quarterback to ever run a 2-minute drill.
To the point that by 2007, honestly, how many of us were really shocked by the Tyree play? By that drive or the ridiculous Manningham throw in 2011? It was automatic. It became EXPECTED.
There have been opportunities. He isn't THAT Eli anymore. Now we rely on Beckham and Barkley. We can't rely on E to win games anymore.
So yeah, I love him and hate to see him go out this way - it isn't his fault - awful drafts and injuries wrecked the O-line - Snee, Diehl, O'Hara, Seubert and McKenzie never replaced in any meaningful way.
Of course, you never know. Maybe things turn around. I just don't see how right now. The line is light years away from 2008.
