I have no problem with posting on difficult subjects. I began criticizing the regime of Jerry Reese in 2013 and calling for his dismissal and took a lot of criticism here for that. But, in the final analysis, I believe that was the proper stance to take.
And so, I severely criticized Flowers last night on Twitter only to get similar reaction even from Carl Banks who said Flowers was alright when matched up with Lawrence one on one. The problem, I think, is not just that. The problem is, IMHO, the perception that this guy never gets criticized or benched from an organizational point of view. There was a story posted last week from one of the beat writers saying exactly this.
And so, while I can make the argument about getting rid of Flowers, I ask this question: What does it say to you, if you are a Giant player, when you see this guy constantly playing poorly and there does not seem to be any repurcussions from the team. He stays away from the off season program and whines about losing his job to Solder. Yet, in no way, has this guy ever earned this job. It, along with the right tackle job, has been given to him.
I firmly believe, at least along the offensive line, that mediocrity is acceptable. Once again last night we saw his inability to pick up a stunt or trouble picking up a blitz. Yes, Omameh was just as bad but it just seems to me this guy never suffers any ramifications from his poor play.
And so, that is my argument...that a culture of mediocrity has been allowed to set in especially on the OL and that won't disappear until Flowers is gone. For that reason alone, I would cut him asap. I know the Giants won't but nothing will change, IMHO, until 74 is off this team.
Have at it...
Do you pull them just to pull them? Put in a backup who is worse?
The fact that they can't bench someone cause the backup is worse is... um... not optimal.
Ours stink, end of story.
Sounds familiar.
They might be doing a poor job of putting a team together, but it s not because they have low standards.
Where do you guys come up with this stuff
