The camera zoomed in and there was Eli staring toward the sideline befuddled, confused -- maybe concussed -- looking very much like an old boxer who is down on the canvass and not knowing where he is nor how he got there.
It was a terrible sight and it's the nearest the Giants have brought me to tears in over half a century. I saw it with Y.A. Tittle and I prefer not to see it with Eli Manning.
I'm hoping now, more than ever, that our two-time Super Bowl MVP gets out of the game before it's too late.
But this, this is something different. It's very painful to watch and frankly, the OPPOSITE of entertainment.
I've always said - ALL I ASK is for a contender at Thanksgiving. Most years, the Giants could manage that. Until recent seasons. 0-2 for 6 consecutive years now. Season over by mid September with only the 2015 team somehow able to dig out and manage a playoff appearance.
This is rock bottom. I was there in 78', and this is worse, because there is enough talent to bring expectations, and each year, the same story. 2012? The O-Line. 2013? O-Line 14? OL... 2018... NEW OL. Different turds, same stink.
So yeah - I can think of 100 better things to do with Upstate Autumn Sundays, and that's what I'll be doing.
