Gut feeling - defense will be exposed starting next week

Lost in Eli/OL debate is that our defense is not very good either. Now before everyone tells me that we held these teams to "x" amount of points and that the offense isnt helping.... you have to see more than meets the eye. Our offense isnt helping, I agree 110%. However...

- We played 2 really suspect offensive teams.
- we didnt stop Jax when Fournette was in the game.
- Dallas averaged nearly 6 YPC.
- Jackrabbit is giving up big plays
- We have 1 sack in 2 games
- We have 1 turnover in 2 games
- QB have consistently 5+ seconds to throw the ball.

Now we are going to see players like Watson/Hopkins/Fuller. Brees/Kamara/Thomas, Philly has the best OLine in the league or arguably one of the best.

So while the defense may not be near the main culpirt for our ineptness, I think starting next week we will include them in things to bitch about here.

The sad thing is that "win now" should be 3 year project

We couldnt afford the OV injury. The season will be all but llost by the time he�s back.

Learning new systems on each side of the ball plus lack of talent is a recipe for a rough start. I certainly have not been impressed by the defense, but if they can hang in there they will get better, I'm not sure how much. Now if they lose their confidence it will get very messy.

Also, if Flowers or Omameh are not the answers....

Cut them and put in someone else that may try harder if nothing else...because Flowers is constantly pushed into the backfield, whiffs on his blocks and generally looks lost.

Omameh also looks like a stiff.

The best players should play, but the right side of the OL has two of the worst players in NFL history!

but they are the only thing keeping us in games.

Jack Rabbit lost his footing on the Tavon pass play.

We need better pass rushers, thats for sure, but the defense is the best thing we have going for us right now.

They are holding their own.

Gave up some big plays for certain in both weeks but not unexpected. We have some problems in defense that will be exposed.

Good thing our offense puts up a lot of points to help...

I am baffled why we got rid of JPP - he still has something left in the tank

JPP was iffy to play this week in Tampa
and yet he still had 5 tackles and a aack ..

is that the D has given up a total of 33 points and still learning a new system. That�s the true bottom line. Citing the quality of competition is lame. The Steelers D, the Pats D under Belichick, have been exemplary. Look around the league. Oh, nevermind

Ogletree has to step in and make sure nobody on defense "quits." I think he will. Last year we had no leader back there, but he looks the part.

just a matter of time before watching your Offense score only 3 points before your own effort starts to go down and then the real blowout will start coming.
