Solder and Omameh were signed. Solder is now the highest paid OL in the NFL. Halapio replaced Jones. Hernandez was pick #34. Flowers was moved to RT.
But the OL is still abysmal. They still can’t pick up simple blitzes and stunts, are repeatedly beaten by speed rushers, and get no push in the run game. They never control the LOS. Eli’s complete immobility of course just magnifies these problems.
Right now, teams can get pressure and stop our running game with just four or five DL. That means they can drop six or seven defenders into coverage to take away our weapons. So Eli throws a lot of checkdowns and dump offs, which really lengthens the field. We need 10 plays just to get into FG range. That was exactly the problem last year.
We have to hope that these problems are mostly because of a lack of cohesion and chemistry, and will therefore lessen as the OL continue playing together. The problem with that argument is that a lack of cohesion and chemistry doesn’t seem to affect the OL of other teams. The problem is also quite pronounced.
But even if the OL starts to play better as the season progresses, it likely won’t happen quickly enough to prevent the Giants from being a 10 loss team. Eli will be pummeled in the interim. OBJ, Barkley, and our other weapons will also be less effective. And that is the best case scenario.
Eli is now David Carr. He is shellshocked to the point where he misses receivers even when he has no pressure. I think there is a very high likelihood Lauletta will play by the end of the year. The Giants won't want Eli to end his career being pummeled, and will need some real film of Lauletta as they go into the offseason.
Yeah a rookie from Richmond is going to do amazing behind a porous offensive line!
I’m afraid it’s way too late for the check down Charlie part....
BTW, OBJ may have been shutdown some last night but where the fuck was SS? The Giants can't make it obvious that they are throwing to Barkley on almost every down and ELi can't start watching the pressure (before the snap occurs). I saw two different times last night where he seemed to freeze and wait to be hit and then nothing happened and he then tried to relocate receivers and was sacked. He clearly is a guy who has seen a LOT of combat and is hearing and seeing things that will come, before they actually get there.
What the hell could any rookie do back there, besides throw more interceptions.
Yes, last week it was physical last night it was mental or lack of prep. But that's how bad teams/bad players roll. If it's not one thing it's another. They just find a way.
LOL.. I just love that over used word when it comes to describing the OL improvements needed. They can do all of the gelling on earth but the reality is that the DL is going through them as if they were made of Jello. When you are pushed back into the QB and the RB routinely, then your problem is that the guy lining up in front of you is simply stronger and a better football player at their position than you are.
The only thing that changes this is different players.
Really?... because Solder and Hernandez got beaten over and over last night.

You want to know where SS was ? he was playing outside where he doesn’t belong ,in the 4 th quarter they moved him back to slot receiver where he does belong and he started to catch some passes .... they seemed to be better with Latimer outside Imo
