Happy i didnt watch a single down last night

GMAN4LIFE : 9/17/2018 9:56 am
Slept like a baby.

See someone told me "you are a fair weather fan" ... hell no. I love the Giants win or lose. Its just sometimes i get toooo emotionally invested in the team that i then lose sleep over a lose. Especially one like last night where they looked like shit.

Anyone else follow that mentality?
This is pretty much

It was week 2

after a close loss to a potential Super Bowl contender, and you'd already packed it in and given up.

I've heard of having low expectations, bu this is beyond that. And you're proud.

Fan of the year.

You recognizing when something is affecting you in a negative way. Ideally I would like to be able to watch the games while taking a learning approach vs being so emotional

Giants football is meant to be entertaining, not something that wrecks us emotionally. Who cares what other "fans" say or think. Do what is good for you.
I was planning on doing the same last night but got sucked in
Dinger : 9/17/2018 10:08 am : link
I shold have just gone to bed after that first quick score. I don't think it reflects badly on you. I will be spent now for the next day or so and not just for staying up for the game but the emotions afterward which keep me from falling asleep and sleeping well. As frustrating as the Giants play was last night, the broadcast was 5 times more annoying. The commercials last night were ridiculous. There were more commercials than there was football and I will NOT be watching ANY of the primetime games in real time. F the giants and f the NFL....
I watched the whole game
UConn4523 : 9/17/2018 10:11 am : link
but the outcome didn’t bother me. But that’s a choice I made a few years ago across all sports - I just don’t get worked up over then anymore.

So I watched and also slept like a baby.
Since the outcome..
FatMan in Charlotte : 9/17/2018 10:11 am : link
of the game didn't impact your quality of sleep, you'd likely have slept like a baby had we won.

However, BBI likely wouldn't have been graced with a thread about your decision to not watch a win.

Lose, lose for the rest of us.
I'm so messed up that if the Giants had won
Dinger : 9/17/2018 10:26 am : link
I would have been so pumped up I wouldn't have slept either so, my bad, not the Giants. I would have been thinking super bowl......

4.30am to watch the end of the game. Win or lose I always much prefer to see the game with my own eyes and have my own views on what's wrong. If I don't watch the game then yeah the loss won't hurt me as much but I wouldn't enjoy the win as much.

If you're not gonna watch giants vs cowboys though. That's definitely a bit fair weather fan to me
That's not even a fair weather fan - that's barely a casual fan
jcn56 : 9/17/2018 11:05 am : link
Which is entirely up to you, but not sure why you'd bother sharing that.
If a loss is something that can affect your sleep
bradshaw44 : 9/17/2018 11:09 am : link
and the game is at night, going to bed and not watching isn't the worst idea. You can be a fan, and still hope and think they might win while you sleep. I don't think there is anything wrong with what the op did. He's just celebrating the fact that he made the right decision and got a good night sleep last night and doesn't feel like shit at work today.

this... and im going to see them next week in Houston. Which by the way, if anyone is going to the game, let me know of any good Giant tailgates.
I'll watch, because that's what I do.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 9/17/2018 12:23 pm : link
But I'm not going to be living & dying with each play. This team isn't worth the energy right now. It's just not.

I agree.

At halftime I decided to play God of War on PS4 and see how the game was going by checking ESPN. Needless to say I had much more fun throwing and swinging the Leviathan Axe.

I'll turn off a game if the Giants aren't being competitive, and last night was one of those times. I went to bed a lot less grumpy.
Ahh yes, my favorite part of having a terrible season
jlukes : 9/17/2018 12:29 pm : link
is when the "real" fans start putting down other fans.

I didn't watch a minute last night because I was sick over the weekend and had to get early monday.

I guess I am not a real fan.

Well, was your first impulse to start a thread the day after the loss that you were happy that you got a good night sleep?

was spotty at best last night, I'll admit. The 1st 3 minutes was all I really needed to see to know how things were going to go though I probably watched 40-50% overall.
I'm not really questioning
pjcas18 : 9/17/2018 12:40 pm : link
your fandom, but I am curious, if you don't plan to watch the games when you have an opportunity to, what involvement do you have with the team?

Will you watch next week against Houston?

Do you sleep better after a 1pm loss than an 8:20pm loss?

Not being a dick, you started the thread to generate discussion I assume, so I'm just trying to understand if you don't watch the games, when you have the chance to, what is your attachment and involvement with the team?
Anytime this team
gmenatlarge : 9/17/2018 12:44 pm : link
is down by more than 1 score you can stop watching as a 2 score lead is insurmountable!

My guess is the thread was started not so much for conversation, but in hopes of others saying something similar. I suspect it is an attempt, whether it be conscious or unconscious, to make himself better or like a decent fan.
I’m not longer as big a fan as I was.
LauderdaleMatty : 9/17/2018 11:23 pm : link
But watching 95 % of all games for 45 years I think I can do what I want

The Giants have put out some of The most unwatchable offensive football in this teams history. And since they now remind me the pathetic teams of the 70s that I suffered through growing up I’m most likely done for the most part too.

Warching the Giants is like eating at a restaurant and getting food poisoning over and over. The going back to “ prove” your a big fan of theirs and praying that one day they won’t suck.

The NFL has also slipped in its product. The officiating is worse every year. I’m 52 and life in S Florida. I’m going to train and go to the beach more. If being labeled a fair weather fan is what that means ok. The Mara’s and this team dont deserve the loyalty Ive shown over that time. I’d suggest they owe the fans an apology and even more.

I’ll follow still but if there isn’t a bigger waste of time looking at this horrific version of football that theyve been putting out I’d love to know what it is. 4 hours of my life is worth more to me now. I’d Love to see a turn around but 5 years of this running and I’m just more interested in me doing things than watching a Bad product.
And I wasn’t really upset
LauderdaleMatty : 9/17/2018 11:24 pm : link
That they lost. Surprised they looked even worse than last year
