Damning Deadspin article

"The Giants have not scored 30 points in a game since the final Sunday of the 2015 season, Tom Coughlin’s last game as coach. Only one other team in the league has failed to score 30 since then: the Browns. The Browns, who have won a single game over that span, are the Giants’ offensive peers. "

35 straight games under 30 points

3-16 over their last 19, one of the worst records in the NFL since the second half of 2012, and there are still people in this board telling us it’s 2 games.
I honestly think
JerrysKids : 9/17/2018 10:57 am : link
we are the worst team in the NFL now and Eli is absolutely the worst QB. Such a terrible way to end a great career.
I know the offensive line has been absolute garbage

but I think it's time to start admitting that Eli is toast.

He will go down as one of the greatest Giants and my favorite Giant of all time - but it is time to move on.

The NFL has changed. Offensive linemen aren't coming into the NFL ready to play in NFL schemes and therefore more pressure is put on the QB to move around in the pocket, escape the pocket, and create time. Eli was never great at those things and at his older age, he has gotten worse.

The entire benching thing was botched by Reese and company laster year. Manning should have just finished that year out and then we should have started fresh this year.

The fact that we didn't take a QB early, didn't trade down to build for the future, spent big money on Solder, and other short-term moves such as those have set this franchise back 2-3 years.

2-3 years is optimistic. The biggest concern is that the management group that made those decisions will be here for the next 2-3 years, continuing to use that same stellar decision making going forward.
There is one constant
Rflairr : 9/17/2018 11:26 am : link
Throughout all the coaching and player changes. And Ben McAdoo was the only one with the balls to stand up and say enough. And y’all ran him off. Webb insinuated the same thing, and they ran him off too. So here we are.
If someone said "Eli is the worst starting QB in the league,"
GiantNatty : 9/17/2018 11:31 am : link
who would you say is worse?

Ouch.

Many of us have been saying this for YEARS and got lambasted on here for saying so. It's the receivers running the wrong routes! It's the line! It's no running back! It's the coach (x2)! It's the GM! Everything except the most glaring problem and the only common denominator: the dreadfully marginal and now just plain bad QB.

And we just passed up a GOLDEN opportunity to get better at the most important position in professional team sports. Nah you take it, Jets. We don't need a QB. We're good. Meanwhile the offense is still broken despite a new line and weapons at every skill position because our QB can't get out of his own way.

Question is, where do we go from here? Given all the poor decisions this franchise has made in the last five years, I'm not feeling good about the near future.

We let go of a hall of fame coach and football mind who's now building a nasty winner in Jacksonville. "It's not your fault, Eli," he said on his way out, yet many believed the fault fell first and foremost right at Eli's feet. And here we are three years later with the same QB. It's mindnumbing. And it's frustrating to know the franchise should have seen this coming from a mile away, and didn't.

Well said. It’s funny, Mcadoo is the greatest villain in BBi, but he was one of the few in tune organization that understood the issues.

He had them set up perfectly to move on from this QB. And Mara stepped in and ruined it. So now they’re completely fucked. This is on the owner

He is not part of the solution, been saying this for a couple years now....I just wonder what film that DG was watching from last year, that convinced him that Eli still has it. That's right the Philly game late in the year. The rest of the film, he was looking at Eli with his heart, and not his brain.
When DG was hired, I went 'meh', a predictable hire by the Giants and Mara/Tisch.
They like familiarity, and comfortability.
I would have preferred a clean slate, not someone who
spent about 20 years with the organization previously.
The signings of Stewart, Omaneh, Kareem Martin, just not good, overpaying for Solder. No one else would have paid him that kind of money, for a slightly above average LT!
Again, that is what desperation does though.
And today ...

Ben McAdoo had it right, and damn, we should have listened to him.

Ah, BBI.

all symptoms of hiring a 70 year old GM who is out of touch with the modern NFL. Once that choice was made all the other things happened. As long as John and Chris Mara are running the football program this is what will be. It really is very similar to their father in the 70's.

Macadoo being in over his head and Manning not being the answer aren't mutually exclusive.
Here we go again with the "it's time to move on"
