Halapaio out for season with broken ankle

Bold Ruler : Mod : 9/17/2018 12:22 pm
@JordanRaanan
Giants starting center Jon Halapio broke his ankle and is out for the season, per sources. Bad luck. He had worked so hard to not only stick on a roster but become a starter. Was playing well. His loss another blow towards creating continuity on the Giants offensive line.
Greco didn't look terrible in his place last night

Hopefully he can go out there without that shitshow actually getting worse.
Tough luck for such a hard worker

dude was selling cars and became the starting OC for the Giants.
Was play well?

This might not be a bad thing. Greco played well at guard last season and Halapio hasn't exactly been playing great football.

Greco has played the position with Cleveland before

and being a veteran could be a stabilizing force in the middle. He may be better suited to being a back up however because he's a back up at Guard too. I think Pulley might get the opportunity now IMO. I think the Giants like Brown, however he's a rookie and needs work. Pulley was no great shakes with the Rams, but he did start 16 games for them there. I don't necessarily think this injury will derail an already shaky oline though.

bad for him. Get well soon Jon. Best wishes.
I noticed Eli stepping up into a clean pocket a few times

once Greco was in... but maybe the Cowboys called off their dogs by then.
Good thing we traded

Brett Jones for a bag of nuts.

Will be fine and Pulley has plenty of starting experience. It's not like we're good and it matters.

I was thinking the same thing. That trade seemed like a bad idea the minute it happened. Jones isn’t great, but I’m sure he’s a hell of a lot better than what we will see there the rest of the season.

$3M worth of nuts!
He played the position in Cleveland...
GiantsUA : 9/17/2018 1:07 pm : link
So the Giants have that going for them.
Halapio was playing well.
allstarjim : 9/17/2018 1:29 pm : link
Really tough break for him, he worked for a long time just to make a 53-man roster, and worked his way to starter. I hope he comes back next year.

It's all relative.

Btw, $3 million of nuts placed in the middle of the Giants offensive line isn't the worst idea. I feel like we would get better blocking in the middle of the line. That's probably a few tons of matter right in the middle of our line.
Feel for him
Sammo85 : 9/17/2018 1:34 pm : link
But he wasn’t an ideal option at C. Hopefully he can make it back and catch on with us in a role or with another team.

didnt give up a pressure vs jax so id say he wasnt playing to bad.

that being said, it makes no difference, the OL needs serious retooling for a second year.

Solder-hernandez-halapio-Draft/FA-Draft/FA

at least two new starters

Omameh will be the RG next year, count on it. His dead cap hit would be more than his live cap.

Holy shit,

I did not know Omameh's salary next year is guaranteed!

7.65M dead cap.....thank you Dave.....

Uh...yes. They do. He was playing well. Granted it was one game but he didn't allow a sack or a rush.

You followed Spencer Pulley’s work in L.A. so closely that you don’t know what team he played for?

I shouldn’t single you out. Most of us know very little about marginal NFL linemen, especially in the AFC.

Sorry dude! Sheesh....I knew it was an LA team anyway the fact remains he started 16 games for them.

Pulley is irrelevant. Who the f**k actually cares.

You do realize the center makes all the line calls. Did that part of the game look good to you as well?

yes, i am well aware...the QB does assist in this area...that being said, we dont truly know if it was the wrong call or if it was guys just doing the wrong assignment as it pertains to the specific calls...in terms of pure physical play, he wasnt playing bad....
Jon Halapio
Giants : 9/17/2018 6:32 pm : link
is terrible. Cut by NE and the Giants as a guard. Then Jones showed him how to snap the ball. He never out played Jones. Jones always had the higher ratings. Jones's contract was viewed as to big by our new front office. He was trade off to free up cap space for Odell and Collins
