was a somewhat mobile qb coming out of college, but when the Texans o-line got him sacked 76 times his rookie year, he was never the same guy. I wouldn't consider putting a young qb behind the Giants' line right now.
I'd redshirt Lauletta this year and give him an offseason and camp to compete. Assuming that Eli's play continues to decline this season and the Giants decide it's time to move on from Eli, that is.

We have to see what he can do at the end of the season. I believe the oline will get better...not much..but better.
One of the GiMts mistKes last season was NOT putting Webb in to see what he can do. Instead we went into the offseason thinking that Webb could be the answer. He was not. We might have gone Qb at 2.
If we do have another top 5 tehen we would be prime position to get the best Qb in the draft (if there is one). We know that Clev, AZ, and. Buffalo will not take a Qb so our chances if there is a guy to grab one where we draft or trade up for one will be good.
The trouble with that is that football is a team game
Randall Cunningham was sacked 72 times in his first year as a starter, he didn't turtle and become a career backup QB.

I know this isn't a popular opinion but the front office and coaches simply didn't value any of the QBs as much as they valued Barkley. Playing Webb had nothing to do with that decision if Barkley was available at #2.
In any event I'm hopeful that an OT is the BPA when they pick next year in the first round. Because that is by far the biggest weakness on this team and they will need a RT.

I noticed this when he played for the Giants. He seemed to always wait for the receiver to come open and then fire the ball as opposed to throwing a pass in advance of the receiver's break. This limitation of his, coupled with his tendency to pull down the ball and take off when he didn't see the receiver come open contributed to the high number of sacks and QB tackles
during the season, Carr was viewed as a possible first round pick. Harrington was considered a high to mid second pick, but as always when the season ends the QB prospects get overvalued. Neither player should have been that high and expectations were a bit much. Carr was a heck of an athlete, but he played poor competition and as mentioned, he had poor throwing mechanics. I don't think he would have been a success anywhere, but going to the texans ensured that.
