He didnt run for a lot, people were in his face/legs on the wrong side of the LOS, but Im 100% convinced that with a "normal" RB Giants would have had negative yards rushing. I always say RBs should always make the 1st guy miss, Barkley delivers on this.
You see everything the Giants loved about him, he has burst, his cuts are insane and he can do it all at a huge 230lbs! Even 1st round studs like Jonathan Stewart didnt have Barkley's COD. He can catch, I believe he will learn to block. Legs like tree trunks, looks to have insane work ethic.
A true 3 down weapon, he can do short yardage, he's a homerun threat. I think he will be a true force in Shurmur's offense once the OL is fixed.
As a draft a QB guy, what a consolation prize. I think he's going to be the best back in the league. He's bigger than Gurley but looks just as fast. Id already have him over Elliot. He's actually a good value at the 6th highest paid RB.
I think he will be OROY. What a stud the Giants have in 26!
He has to dance and juke just to get 2 yards, but he wouldn't even get to the LOS if not for his ability.
This week he was even with eli in rushing for a good while
Granted, he has some moves and is generational.
But I would still take Saquon Barkley at #2. Sorry. And yes, I realize we're in a shitty position. I realize Saquon can't get anything going with these sorry-ass "blockers." I realize Eli is all but done and we don't really have an heir apparent. But if I'm going to take a franchise QB, I better be damn sure I'm in love with him. I better not be taking no Mitchell Trubisky or Blake Bortles. I better be convinced that he can win my team some Super Bowls and he can play at a high level for many years to come. Sorry, but I wasn't convinced of that with any of the QBs this year.

Darnold was the only QB I was interested in drafting. I probably would have taken him over Barkley, but am fine with the latter. The bigger question is whether I would have traded down, knowing that some team would pay a fortune to get either. My concern at this point is that Barkley's career will be stunted until the OL is fixed. As others have noted, he isn't getting any blocking, and in fact is frequently met in the backfield by multiple defenders.

I'll give Darnold this: he looks better than I thought he would, especially so early on. My main concern about Darnold was the turnovers. It still is a concern going forward, but I can see why Jets are so optimistic about his future.

He won't be as effective. Correct. It's reminiscent of Todd Gurley in his sophomore year. He had a terrible statistical year because his O-Line was Swiss cheese. Then they signed Andrew Whitworth, who may have been the best FA pickup of 2017 and John Sullivan, and Gurley had his best season thus far.
The question is though, why did you ever so aggressively believe he did in the first place? What was the evidence?
So the concern is we may have TOO MUCH talent on offense?
Well of course Odell is going to be a blocker. He's a starting WR! What would you have him to do on a pitch to Saquon? If you take Odell out of the game, you're telling the defense that you're going to give Saquon the ball.

By my count, Barkley broke the first tackler's attempt on 12/25 of his touches. (Includes carries where he had no blocking or catches where he had defenders right in his face)

He does not go down easily. He is a special RB.

Apparently Stan doesn't need to provide evidence to prove his point. He can be completely wrong and still stick to his conflicting opinion, even when others give him the facts. It's a gift he has.
We can't?
He has over 100 yards from scrimmage in all 3 games so far.
The line isn't great, but this is a dumb post and it doesn't sound like you watched any of the game yesterday.

is like a nice shiny toy which we can't play with because the O-line once again is bad, not NFL bad, not NCAA bad but high school bad and can't handle a simple stunt...pathetic!

I am guessing he didn't watch the game yesterday being that his post was from 9/20.....
Even still, the Dallas disaster aside - did he not have an impact on the JAX game? He rushed for 106 yards and a score. The post is still silly and makes no sense.
I know Shep had a dumb penalty but otherwise, he was stellar.
I'm 58 and have never seen a RB like SB.
Im sorry, what? Looking at some of your previous comments you appear to be a troll but I cant confirm.
This is what I think too. We could still put a functional line together this year and let Eli and the backs do their jobs. It's early.
