I know lack of time. However, they are crossing patterns where the goal is to hit the guy then he runs for it. First off its WAY short of the marker. Second teams are playing zone so its never 1 guy to beat. Its a lot of guys and it does not work. Its too far to run.
Instead of doing crossing patterns wouldn't it be better to add in comebacks. You run straight to the marker, turn around, Eli hits them low so they can use their bodies to shield themselves.
The Giants used to run back should passes a lot under Gilbride. They do not allow for Run after the Catch so they are not popular in west coast offenses, but the Giants got a lot of yards out of it.
Come backs likely take just as much time to develop as a cross
on third and 7 or even 3rd and 10 since you are running forward.
Really fed up with these crossing patterns then the guy has to run 5 yard for a first down and 3 guys tackle them. They have no chance.
If Eli is throwing much shorter, its because either he has no more time due to the OL or its a positive 1-on-1 situation (like Barkley on a LB).
