Giants probably top the list of least likely team to sign Kaepernick, But quite honestly if protection doesn't improve in the next few weeks I would rather see Kaep get a chance than Tanney or KL just because of his mobility. We have nothing to lose.
If Kap could play the right side of the offensive line,
Russell Wilson is terrific on the field and has shown he can play with a lousy line. He's not popular with his teammates and is supposed to be kind of a dick.
As for the trade offer, the funny thing is, I don't think the Giants should offer that, and I don't think Seattle should take it.
The Giants shouldn't offer that because there's a good chance their next couple of picks will be very early in the first. '
The Seahawks shouldn't take it unless they're assured of getting at least one top-5 pick -- which means, the trade only happens after the Giants have had another disastrous season. Why not? Because draft picks are a crapshoot. Even "can't-miss" prospects bust all the time. First-round picks are a crapshoot too; they just have higher odds of success. But for every OBJ there are 10 William Josephs and Ereck Flowers. So what's more valuable, a franchise quarterback or three first-round picks? If you're Seattle, what's more valuable, Russell Wilson now or three prospects later?
One more thing: The Giants were sort of in this spot in the late 60s when they traded for Fran Tarkenton, who was a lot like Russell Wilson. Tarkenton was a terrific QB and fun to watch but they didn't solve the underlying roster problems, so they didn't win a thing with him, and ended up trading him back to the Vikings. So maybe not repeat that history.
Oh, yeah. Kaepernick. Most Giants fans would no doubt object and Mara would be inundated with hate mail from NJ/NY police officers and some officers may form picket lines.

Lots of people would lose their minds. Lots of people would be thrilled. I think he'd win over a lot of Giants fans, but he's not going to stop kneeling at this point, so you don't sign the guy unless you're willing to live with that controversy. I don't think the Giants are willing.
Purely on football, if the Goats were to sign Kaepernick they'd kind of have to dump Eli and put in a whole new offense, which is tough to do during the season. Kaepernick's skill set is entirely different from Eli's. He's not really that good, and he's limited -- but limited in a different way from Eli. He might do better than Eli on this team, but he's not a guy who's going to go through progressions and find the open receiver on a third read. He's going to go read one or two receiving options, then run. He never seemed to develop the willingness to stand in the pocket (and take a hit) to go through those progressions.
I'll tell ya what, though: I'd rather see Kaepernick than Tanney.
i actually wouldn't mind seeing Kap in some packages

I've actually thought about the Giants trading picks for Derek Carr after the season.
Never heard of the other guy.

Problem is: he's seeing headlights and not the coverage. Isn't that the issue we have going on now?
