Is complete garbage. They can’t talk about any sport with any kind of insight. For Francesa, he couldn’t care less if fans need to blame Eli. His point is that the Oline is above and beyond awful. That no QB functions behind this embarassing situation
is probably the most useless interview ever. All coach speak.
Would love just once for Eli to go off the rails and just tell it like it is. If it were me I'd probably say something like this:
"Ya know Mike, I know it's been a painful time for the fans. I feel bad about that. I want to win, I believe I can still lead this team to wins...I believe this roster can win. We just need to gel better; eliminate the mental errors. Execute what we need to. I know I'm not the most demonstrative person but believe me it hurts me to no end when we perform like that. I take it personally and it's my mission to get this team to improve."
They’re 0-2 with Darnold too. That this isn’t about QB
No way of knowing this. That's his opinion and nothing more.
And even if they had Darnold, the record is hardly the point. That's the long game if you have a rookie QB in, but Mike knows that, he just does what he always does. Simplify the argument against you and dismiss it and talk down to callers.
just all Eli's fault. Swapping out one player, albeit a QB, is a lot easier than a 5 year rebuild. Unfortunately, it's not. This team is a mess. Eli gets no protection, the play-calling has been absolute and utter garbage and our defense is God awful. It's not Eli. Mike is speaking 100% truth here.
He's 37, he's not good enough to bring the Giants out of it. He pulled a rabbit out of his behind once (2011) and now it's impossible to have him do it again.
Atleast that offensive line he trusted the guys upfront, even if they were on their last legs (Diehl and McKenzie particularly)
Fan club has become fucking annoying after 2 fucking games. Im going to be “that guy” and hope and watch sam darnold fucking suck just because. I dont even hate the jets but i hate their fucking qb after 2 games because our fans wont stop slobbing his knob

But Maggie made the point that the Patriots got rid of Solder, who blocked Brady for years. How was Brady able to function on such a high level for all those years?
I don’t understand what you mean or what Maggie was getting at. Solder, was 1/5th of a line that was functional and a playoff team every year. This Oline 5 out of 5 is poor. Eli can function and even attack with minimal protection. In 2011, Diehl and McKenzie were giving up pressure after pressure off the edge. But he could usually step up into the pocket when Baas and Snee were there. He knew consistently where the pocket was breaking down. This is dysfunctional
RE: Worst thing that happened to this franchise was Tom walking out Â
Mara choosing Reese over Tom was the biggest mistake the franchise ever made.
Oh please. Stop the nonsense. Reese was here for 2 seasons. After Coughlin, and one of those seasons, they went to the Playoffs. Everyone is to blame for Eli’s shitty play but Eli. How many GMs, HCs, OL Coaches, and OCs have to be fired?
McAdoo was the only one with the guts to stand up and say it.
Was trying to save his own neck. That’s all, he thought he’d give Geno a try and try to prove Eli was the problem. He was a low rent clown. It doesn’t take guts to throw your players under the bus. Especially the one player who got you the job in the first place

I am sick of hearing about how Tom Coughlin should still be here. This guy had talented teams crap the bed and miss the playoffs in 2009 2010 and 2012 after starting 5-0 in 2009 and 6-2 records in 2010 and 2012. And 2013 2014 and 2015 were awful seasons. And now he gets all the goddam credit for what’s going in Jacksonville and Marrone gets none.Jacksonville before last year has picked top 5 six years in a row and spend a $160 million on defense you're bound to run into some talent.Almost all their starters defensively were there before Coughlin. He’s not even the GM. Guys like Ramsey changed that culture

Cause the 4 other lineman weren’t trash cans also?
that Eli's play can be declining AND the offensive line sucks? Those are not mutually exclusive.
You can put a mobile QB behind that line and the results won't be very different. Eli isn't getting hit because he is a statue, he is getting hit because nobody is blocked.
Eli is clearly on the decline and that is a problem, but it is not the most immediate problem given how tragically bad this line is.

McAdoo was right, and shouldn't have been fired. Geno looked better than Eli in 2017 too. He passed the eye test. It takes guts to bench Eli with people like you shilling for him. McAdoo is a football coach and his responsibility is to do what's best for the team, and replace underperforming/bad players. This includes Eli.

McAoo shouldn’t have been fired? Even if he was bright about Eli being shot, which might be true actually, the players had absolutely zero respect for the guy and he had no answers during all the turmoil last season. You could not bring that that guy back.

That don’t know how football works. See, when a QB throws the ball, the majority of the time he is throwing to a spot on the field at a specific time that he is expecting his receiver to be there. They are looking at coverages to determine which receiver has the best chance of getting to the spot they need to be when they need to be there. If there isn’t enough time for a QB to drop back, read, step up and throw, the ball either arrives too early or appears to be inaccurate.
Eli had zero time. Like actually zero. On most plays. Like “HIKE!” And there is a DL in his face. Watson, Wilson, Vick, Brady, Young, Garcia... I don’t care who it is. If the DL is in your face (I say DL because it was legit, the whole DL) there is no way to make progressions and deliver the ball to the receiver on time. And where you scrambling to? Right into a Lineman? Eli got his clock cleaned last night when he just said fuck it and tried to run.
It’s pretty clear that a lack of understanding is leading to a lot of people to take it at face value and put the blame on the QB. I even heard Collinsworth say several times that “this has nothing to do with the Offensive Line” and I laughed every time. Of course it’s the line! The D didn’t suck. It wasn’t the best but they did just enough that our offense could have won if we put points on the board. I’m giving this until week four before I start freaking. We have some growing to do and I think we’ll see a big difference maybe even starting next week.

Ya' think? McAdoo was right and Smith was better. Brilliant! Flairr and Elgo are really bringing the stupid.
1. McAdoo was a joke. Did his offense ever frighten anyone?
2. Watch the games. Eli has no time. Barkley is met by defenders the moment he gets the handoff. If Eli is done based on the first 2 games so is Barkley.
It's the offensive line stupid. And so far this line is worse than last year. Man for man. Solder is an improvement on Flowers, but Hernandez being a rookie means right now we're actually worse at the other 4 positions. Pugh was better - when he played - than Hernandez is right now. Jones is better than either of our centers. Jerry is way better than Omameh (the Jags couldn't wait to get rid of this guy and their fans laughed when we signed him) and Hart is better than Flowers.
This line couldn't block 4 random posters in this topic.
Are the posters who have such a hate on for Eli they are oblivious to the failings of the line. It is 100% wishful thinking that a new QB would fix the offense.
I'll grant that it's possible that the line and Eli could BOTH be the problem, but I'm unwilling to go there until he's got at least mediocre protection in front of him. But it's been so long since I've seen an even barely competent line that it's impossible to properly evaluate Eli.
The proof for me, as many have already pointed out, is we have the best RB we've seen since Tiki and he averaged 2.5 per carry against the vaunted Dallas run defense.
Please people, face facts: the line is a fucking travesty. This is not a quick or easy fix. Maybe, maybe these guys can be coached up from league-worst to below average, and that's a pretty lofty ceiling with the available talent on the roster. But until they at least get there I'm not writing Eli off any more than I'm declaring Barkley a bust.
If you get to work late every week because of traffic Â
I’d rather be 0-2 with Darnold, actually.
Ironically, CMB was placing the blame more on Eli.
Confession, I’d love to see Eli do that too

Please, what has Darnold done that is anything but average. The only thing we'd have more of with Darnold are interceptions

The only fear about that is Darnold could get turned into David Carr behind this line and we'd waste a top QB pick
Mara choosing Reese over Tom was the biggest mistake the franchise ever made.
Mara chose Chirs Mara over Tom -- Tom should have been kicked upstairs like he currently is in Jacksonville .. but Chris Mara has that position
Ironically, CMB was placing the blame more on Eli.
Cmb is a fucking jerkoff. Don’t care if he played the game and played it well. He’s an idiot.
