1st we can all thank the Rays for keeping the Yanks as the top WC team...now the hard part begins with 6 games against the Red Sox and 4 away against the Rays. Oakland plays nobody of any consequence.. really cannot see them getting the home field now.

Aaron Judge apparently hit against live pitching yesterday and Chapman threw off the mound without problems. Good News on both.

I'm still a bit disappointed that they are holding Judge from live game at bats. He has to have more than a handful of at bats to be ready for the WC game. Even if he struggles a bit with FBs to begin with (or pitch recognition), he'll never get up to speed at this rate.

Post had an article pointing out the outfield "dilemma" when Judge is back - log jam they used. Gardy has been my favorite for a long time, but he is just cooked. Defense is still stellar, but...
my starting OF for AL playoffs would be Cutch - Hicks - Judge with Stanton as DH.

Now should they somehow miraculously remember how to hit and make the WS, then there is a "problem' in the NL city. Would have to sit Cutch and bat Hicks leadoff.
Stanton - Hicks - Judge in the OF.

Pitching -
Again, should they somehow make it past the A's, the top three starters would be: (not necessarily in that order)
Severino
Tanaka
Happ

After his past few starts, I'm not sure I'd start CC over Lynn as the #4. CC with his junk pitches maybe be a better fit against the Red Sox when on, but he has had trouble with the cutter and was getting bombed leaving it up against garbage teams. Cannot imagine what the the Sox would do to it.

Rays 6.5

Back with two weeks left and still have 4 games left with the Yankees in Tampa. Not saying the rays will catch the yanks but it’s not impossible

seeing Happ against the Sox tonight. It would be enjoyable more if a bat or four shows up from the 1st base dugout

Retarted as per gidie...

Any chance this game actually gets in today? It looks like the bulk of the rain will be in the afternoon. Would they consider moving it to 7pm instead of a double header?

Expect them to hang on as long as necessary to get it in unless the field is destroyed..

A smart move. Don't want to see players slogging around on slick grass and mud...
gunna suck seeing the Sox clinch the AL East on our field

Sheffield finally gets the call up.

I agree with the idea of the playoff OF
rich in DC : 9/18/2018 11:58 am : link
being Cutch, Hicks and Judge.

By having Gardner on the bench, the Yanks can actually kill multiple birds with one stone, to turn a phrase. Gardner can either be a reserve OF, a PR late in the game for Sanchez or Bird (if either is in the game), or even a PH.

That in turn may allow the Yanks to be more creative with the bench and bullpen. Maybe that means that they can carry Adeiny, Wade and Walker with the backup C on the bench.

Maybe that means that the Yanks can drop Wade and go with an extra arm because with Gardner on the bench, a second PR might not be needed.

Here's an interesting question that I do not know the answer to because I think the rules changed a few years ago.

It used to be that if you moved a guy who was post-season eligible onto the 60 day DL after September 1, you could "replace" that player with anyone you wanted.

In other words, I believe Frazier was eligible to be on the post-season roster because he had played with the Yanks during the season before September 1.

Under the old rule, I believe that with Frazier being put on the 60 day DL to make room for Sheffield, the Yanks could have put Sheffield on the post-season roster as the replacement for Frazier.

However, I also THINK that MLB changed that rule several years ago. Anyone know the answer to that one?

either started a thread or commented on one a couple of months ago, about when rain is in the forcast for a night game and changing the start time because the rain was gonna come in late. I was told that they couldn't do that because of having to get support staff/concessions/police to quickly change their schedule. Looks like it can be done.

As an observant Jew I agree. I appreciate the sentiment from the organization, but realistically what observant jew would be able to attend the game or work it and still get home in time for the start of the holiday tonight? Should have just had it at 7pm from the start as always. Besides for those stuck listening to the game on the radio tonight at least you get a break from Susan lol.
