It was Hechaverria, not Andujar. Check the box score.

Andujar wasn't in the game. It was Hechevarria.

Again. You're wrong. It's a pattern and a habit. Stop.
Love the double down on idiocy though.
B in ALB : 9/18/2018 10:39 pm : link
Really impressive.

I did, it was given to Torres... that will likely be changed.

But did not see Hechavarria was in until I looked at the box..

I don't know man. You're regularly wrong about stuff and misinformed. It's a habit. Hate to see it. I like your passion for the Yanks but come on bro. Let's all get better together.

It will likely be changed?

Based on what exactly?

There's more of a chance that it will be changed to an error on Andujar despite the fact that he was sitting on the bench.

Fuckin triple lindy tonight. Wow.
I was there.

A lot of Sux fans in the house, hoping they would witness something.

Sad trombone. :(

Go Angels.

Fucking horrific.

Boone really has this team on point. Can't throw or catch.

Whatever happens from here, they have to go into spring training with a different attitude about defense than this year. This may be the worst defensive team I've ever seen.

Next spring? If the old man were still alive, those guys would've been out there AFTER the game working on defense. He'd have gone stark raving bugfuck seeing some of the defensive miscues this year.
The 2005 team was much, much worse defensively
Greg from LI : 9/19/2018 12:21 am : link
It is actually far and away the worst defensive team of the UZR era. Not the worst Yankee squad, but the worst MLB defense, period. I think ARod was the only starter who didn't have a negative UZR. Not that it's the end all be all, but that assessment pretty much matches my memory of that team.

Plenty of sloppy pussy over the years. Took that too.
Missed the game cuz I'm fucking inundated with work this week due to the hurricane, plus I have a family wedding on the weekend that's cutting into my work time, but thank god B is back man.

I missed you, old guy.
Angels beat the A's, so we're at 2.5
Del Shofner : 9/19/2018 6:49 am : link
with 12 games to go, 11 for the A's.

3 in the loss but it's really more like 4 because if they finish tied, the Yanks win the tie breaker and get the WC 1.

Still plenty of time and they just have to keep winning.
And the Rays keep winning.....
Jints in Carolina : 9/19/2018 7:50 am : link
Oakland should start looking over their shoulder.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to the Yanks 4-game series down there in that joke of a ballpark, playing the Rays as good as that are playing. Hell, I never look forward to watching games played there but the Rays could throw a big monkey wrench into the whole scenario.
I'd love..
FatMan in Charlotte : 9/19/2018 8:29 am : link
to see an error charged to a guy not even in the game!!

History, baby!
The A's are a good team...
Dunedin81 : 9/19/2018 8:40 am : link
the Rays would probably have to sweep the Yanks and the A's would have to drop probably 9/11 against the Twins, the hapless Mariners and the Angels. Stranger things have happened, but not much stranger.

arcarsenal : 9/19/2018 9:20 am : link
Phew. That wasn't how I thought the game was going to end - but I'll fuckin' take it.

Kudos to Britton. Kinda spiked the throw to 2nd but the guy induced 3 DP balls and got out of an inning where the Red Sox essentially had 5 outs. Not easy to do.

Chappy should be back today. Betances was not needed. So we still have some ammo left back there.

Wish we were less reliant on the long ball. Hard to remember many recent instances of big innings where the ball stayed in the park. But a W is a W and runs are runs however you get them. Just hoping we can get a few more innings where we string together some hits. It's tough to rely on the bloop and blast so often.

That's interesting - I wouldn't have guessed it, and that team did win the division. I don't recall that team having all the passed balls, dropped throws, etc. like we saw last night. But it was a pretty old team and I guess their ranges were limited. It was Jorge at C, ARod, Jeter, Cano and Tino in the infield, and Hideki, Bernie and Sheffield in the OF. Other than Cano, none of them was young at that point, mostly over 30.
pretty much, yeah
Greg from LI : 9/19/2018 10:10 am : link
No one on that team had any range except ARod. The errors you see this year are generally more of a focus/mental variety, which isn't surprising given how young the team is.

I agree. It's a long season for some of these kids in their first year. The errors are as you describe. A great young ballplayer will realize his miscues and put in extra work in the off-season. I think this defense will be better next year.
