In a standard league, I grabbed Martavis Bryant a few weeks ago thinking it could produce in Gruden's offense. Now, he is playing on suspension appeal and did not do much the past few weeks.
I have an opportunity to drop him and pickup Calvin Ridley on waivers. I know the kid made one play last weekend but I have not been paying close attention to his situation.
Thoughts?
I'd still roll with the Browns....that D seems legit.
I dont like Hooper. You have to give Jonnu Smith a chance. Last week their OL was banged up and Gabbert was starting. When things settld down he should be a decent part of that offense. They need another weapon on that offense. I think Davis has more targets than everybody else combined or something like that.
I also like Njoku way more than Hooper as well. Cleveland was thrown a curveball last week. The news on Josh Gordon came out very late. They need more in the pass game and I think Njoku will be a part of that moving forward. Hue Jackson said they need to get Duke Johnson more involved in the pass game but I heard him say that shit all last year with Crowell and it never materialized. So, look for Njoku to be more involved especially in the red zone.
I personally think once Smith really gets acclimated into that offense that he will see a bunch of targets. Njoku will be a better player in terms of red zone targets. But, I would take both over Hooper.
My options for this week are....
R. Freeman at Baltimore
Austin Ekeler at Rams
Alfred Morris vs KC
Cohen at Arizona
Pick up Clement vs Indy

I'd roll with Alfred Morris. KC defense has not been good.

Ekeler might be a sneaky play. Clement probably should be added with Ajayi possibly out and Wentz coming back.

I'd rank them

Devonta is yes, he has Royce though.
Ekeler was used a lot in the first game. I don't know about the second game. If the Rams have a weakness it is their run defense. But if this game gets out of hand I can see Ekeler catching a ton of dumpoffs.
Kerryon Johnson is not worth starting until Detroit gives him a bigger workload.
Clement could be the starter this week on one of the best running teams last year.
Morris looks like he is slowly losing out to Breida so Morris may just be TD dependent but there is a decent chance he gets one this week.
Clement (if Ajayi is out)/Ekeler
Morris
Johnson
Freeman
Did I miss someone?
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad - Brown's Defense is going to be a good one to own this year. I also picked them up, dropped Houston's DEF. And I think they are a great play this week.
On Jonnu Smith - really disconcerting he didn't get a single target. He will rebound, but Luke Stocker is getting a couple of looks also in that offense. I recommended Smith last week after Walker got hurt. But, if you have a shot at Njoku, I'd get him, I like him over Smith the rest of the way as well as Hooper. Hooper is a low-end TE2 in deep leagues. Njoku is a TE2 right now but he has significant upside still, imo, and even more so if Mayfield takes over.
dep026 - I'd pick up Clement. Ajayi is not going to play, Sproles is unlikely to play. Clement is probably their best, most complete back anyway. I also would play Alfred Morris. I have a strong feeling that the Niners are going to want to play some ball control offense against KC at least early, leading to a favorable gameplan for Mr. Morris. I do think Kerryon Johnson is going to take over that backfield very soon, however, but the only way I play him this week is if Blount is out. I would avoid anyone playing LAR DEF.
Better WR to own in a 14 team PPR for Jlukes - Geronimo Allison is the guy to own if you need some production right now from the position. Ridley is the guy if you are looking for a homerun, want the upside, and can afford to wait and stash.

Not sure CLE D is a better play than HOU D this week. Jets offense looked better than NYG.
rest I agree with

Snatch him up.

We'll see. There are issues with Houston and the Jets still have a rookie QB who is playing on a short week. I always feel short weeks favor the defense. Garrett is a monster. Cleveland with 7 sacks already, and 3 INTs...they are 5th in sacks in the NFL thus far. And I know it's 2 games, but taking Cleveland this week isn't just about matchup, it's about the rest of the way. I think they are going to be a legit defense.
Yes.
Starting Adams @ WR1 so that spot is covered.
Between WR2, WR3 and a flex spot I have these guys...
Corey Davis @ JAX
Quincy Enunwa @ CLE
Keelan Cole v TEN
Josh Gordon @ DET
Marquise Goodwin @ KC
Antonio Callaway vs NYJ
I can also just pick two of those and Flex James White.
Leaning away from Davis because of the matchup and QB situation. I think I'm definitely going to use Cole.
I want to use Goodwin but it depends on his leg.
Probably have to wait and see on Gordon's role before staring him.
Enunwa is getting a pretty big target share and appears to be Darnold's guy - so I like him too.
Callaway may be risky - but targets are open there now that Gordon is gone and he's better than Higgins.
Tough call.

is Cohen the obvious drop of the RBs I mentioned?
Yes.
yep.
I dont like that. Makes me feel dirty.

Cole for sure. White in the flex for me.
I'd want a healthy Goodwin vs KC as my other. To do that, you have to be willing to go with either Gordon or Davis. If you don't feel good about that then go Enunwa.
Enunwa
Godwin.
I think he plays and against a bad Pitt secondary.

That's pretty much where I'm leaning. I hate using TNF players if I can avoid it but Enunwa seems pretty safe right now because Darnold is looking his way so often but I'd rather use Goodwin if I knew he was all systems go.
I actually just dropped Cohen for Clement. Cohen doesn't seem to have much of any role in that offense right now.

There goes being one of the most best offensive weapons in the league with his barry sanders-esque moves.

he's a threat to take it to the house every time he gets the ball in his hands. LOL.
Allison depending on Rodgers. Rodgers looked better but I am surprised Minnesota didn't bring more pressure.
Engram hands down. The Giants will be throwing a lot this year and I am going to throw out the first two games.
Engram without question
Quote:
in the same standard league, I have Kittle as my TE. Someone just dropped Engram. I have no room for both. Thoughts on the choice between the two of them?
Engram without question
I was questioning this because apparently Kittle has become Jimmy G's favorite target while Eli... who knows.
EricJ - I think for your Kittle conundrum...I would slow down and take that week to week. You may lose out on Engram but I think Kittle is a very strong play this week against KC, and I like Kittle's role in the offense, as well as the 49er's overall offensive efficiency, better than Engram and the Giants. I think there is a good chance Kittle finishes a TE1 this year and Engram drops to #11-15 type of range at the position. I definitely love Kittle much more than Engram this week.
David Johnson and Robert Woods
Team 2 gets:
Saquon Barkley
Who wins?

1. Woods is a viable threat for a flex spot. Johnson and Barkley may wash each other out since they are on bad teams.

Give me Barkley all day. I am a big DJ fan but that offense is just so bad (as is ours). They cannot get DJ going and his whole career he was under a great offensive mind in Arians. Now? Ugh. Give me Barkley. I get Woods is in the deal. Give me Barkley. Did I say give me Barkley? I have DJ in a couple of leagues too. Ugh.
I had DJ as a keeper and Barkley went #1 overall.
David Johnson and Robert Woods

I would take Barkley.
Woods is the type of WR who you can flex most weeks but he's also a guy you can usually find a replacement for without too much trouble.
I'm thinking DJ may have a tough year there. The Cards offense is really, really bad. It is definitely as bad as ours.
Between the targets, rushing ability and the fact that he's going to manage to get into the endzone here and there, I would prefer to have Barkley. I think he's a sure-fire RB1 every single time he's out there.
Just a bit wary of DJ this year... even though it wasn't a leg injury, it's not always easy for players to be the same after missing an entire season.
I know it's a pretty big haul to give up, but I just believe in Barkley long-term a lot more than DJ.
We are also seeing more and more teams start to use RB's almost entirely as WR's.
Guys like Thompson, Riddick, Duke Johnson, etc. literally don't carry the football at all.
Thompson caught 13 balls on Sunday. Riddick was targeted 12 times, I believe.
CLE hasn't been able to get Duke involved but that's usually how they use him too.
CMC just saw a 15 target game as well.
Barkley is a better runner and built to actually bang between tackles which these guys aren't. But he's going to see similar target shares as well.
Things are a changin'...
