Start 0-3 u have a 2% chance of making the playoffs.....

sxdxca : 9/19/2018 12:58 pm
Here is the reality of the situation, this team is already 0-2, and 90% of teams with this record do not make the playoffs. Start 0-3, and the season is done in September.

Do not believe those who are telling you, that they think Houston is going to be an easy win. They are fooling you.

I just finished watching Houston vs Titans, they almost won that game, it was tied 17-17 with 2 minutes left in the 4th qtr.

Deshaun Watson can throw and run, very mobile. His main weakness is he holds on to the ball to long. If there is one advantage the Giants have, is if they can confuse him maybe they can get him on the ground.

Houston is 0-2 as well, there at home and they want a win badly. This will not be easy.

I don't hear anyone claiming Houston is going to be an "easy win"

I'd be stunned if the Giants found a way to win on Sunday. 0-3 looks like a near certainty to me.
Thanks for this

The research must have been exhausting.
I think it may be a while til we see a win
Dinger : 9/19/2018 1:03 pm : link
This weekend or versus the saints maybe our best chance to not start out 0 and 8. But I do not consider the playoffs a possibility right now. We need steady improvement in the line and in the pass rush. if we can end up 7 and 9 i think I would be ecstatic, sadly.
baby steps
family progtitioner : 9/19/2018 1:07 pm : link
score 20, don't turn the ball over. Don't let Watson have free bootlegs for big chunks of yardage. At this point W-L is meaningless, team is awful
Honestly, at this point I just want to see points on the board.
Brown Recluse : 9/19/2018 1:09 pm : link
I want to see them score 30.

I want production.

I don't even care about playoffs right now.
Do we have the argument that we had last year
NewBlue : 9/19/2018 1:11 pm : link
Should we root for losses to get the higher draft pick.

certainly not now, but at say 0-5 whats the point of going 6-10 or even 8-8 when we will desperitly need a QB in coming draft.

They should crush us.
BigBlueDownTheShore : 9/19/2018 1:11 pm : link
Dallas is putrid. We got spanked by them no matter how close the score actually was at the end.

Friggin Shumur looks at this hot mess of an offense and doesn't put SB and OBJ in ST. WTF is he thinking???
Playoffs?!?!

What's that? Playoffs? Don’t talk about... playoffs!??! You kidding me?! Playoffs?! I just hope we can win a game!

Let's start with moving forward more than half the length of an NFL football before getting hit, then go from there.
There's a very real possibility of 0-4 prior to October
ij_reilly : 9/19/2018 1:22 pm : link
The Giants are likely to be irrelevant before October.

It's a new low for the franchise, really, except for maybe the 1970s. Two years in a row where October football is essentially meaningless.

The team's OL is so bad that there's no reason for optimism.

A case can be made the two "easiest" QB's the Giants will have faced in the 7 game gauntlet to start the season have already been played.

Rank them: Bortles, Prescott, Watson, Brees, Newton, Wentz, Ryan

If the Giants still have no pass rush AND they can't stop the read option, why and how are they going to stop Watson exactly?

Hopkins vs Jenkins. If you are Houston, do you not like that matchup?

Giants do not have one advantage they can count on going into this game.

Exactly. I had reasonable expectations this season of an 8-8 team. It couldn't possibly be worse then last year right?

After last week though, I have serious doubts we will win 1 game.
Silver lining....

It was a very real possibility even before we saw how bad they are. The schedule is as brutal as an early schedule can be. I'll be mildly surprised if we aren't 0-8 on Halloween. I wish that was hyperbole.

I hate this matchup but, like this team often does, they'll inexplicably play them tough and it will be a close game.

I still see 50 yards rushing for Watson and big receiving yards for Hopkins

Why are we the only team remaining that can't defend the read option? Why do we have trouble with stunts?

RPO and read option concepts aren't the same thing and we aren't the only team struggling to defend it.

Predicted 8-8 in the BBI preseason thread and thought that was optimistic. Too much turnover to compete and more turnover needed. Set playoff hopes for 2020.

I have to say
Leg of Theismann : 9/19/2018 3:57 pm : link
Eli's stat line the past 2 weeks is much better than I would have guessed. Completion percentage at 70%, averaging 250 yds per game, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 lost fumble, ~84.5 rating.

The main problem is he's taken like 38 sacks already, and his two turnovers came at costly times, one of them being returned for a TD.

But this really does tell me that if somehow they can just block for the dude, he can probably get his rating up around ~95 and throw for 300 yards a game. That tells me he is not completely shot at all. And, as someone else said, the problems on the line are not physical, they are mental. Of course if you completely miss an assignment it is going to result in zero time to throw and a sack. But if they can just somehow fix the mental errors this team is not far off from competing (at least not as far off as many believe, I think).

JAX is one of the best teams in the league and let's face it Rod Marinelli has had our number ever since he came to Dallas. Maybe this was just a bad 2 weeks and this 0-2 start will light the fire they need to be Houston and NO. Sitting at 2-2 this board would suddenly look a whole lot different. It's funny how little it takes.
If the Giants go 0-3,

There are surprises every week in the NFL
arniefez : 9/19/2018 5:21 pm : link
Maybe the Giants will surprise us. But more than likely the 5-11 I thought we were in for might be optimistic. If they're not going to make the playoffs I don't care how many they lose. The more the better. How do you think Jacksonville built that defense? They won 5, 2, 4, 3, 5, 3.

The Giants are headed down that track. I hope they draft as well. Just for the record the Jacksonville GM who picked most of those players was not Tom Coughlin. Take a look at their 1st 3 picks in 2016. Wow.
