Smith was not an NFL player. Piss poor blocker and never showed anything else like running or catching ability. Should have been replaced with a rookie FA during the off season.
He looked like shit pass blocking. But when you barely run the ball then what value does your FB have anyway? And when we use a FB we love to go with 2 TEs too making it obvious we are running so defenses just load the box against us. We aren't good enough to do that. Bringing more defenders into the box hurrs us. It increases the odds that there are blown assignments or more talent on the defensive side of the ball. Think about it. Every time we went with an obviously running formation we have gotten destroyed. If we are going to bring in a FB then I think going with 3 WRs helps because it should leave 7 or possibly 6 in the box. Give Barkley room to run.

Not only was he a wste of a roster spot for 2 games...he was a waste of a whole bunch of mini-camp, OTA and training camp reps and attention, to the exclusion of someone who could actually have performed the job well. Now we have to start over from scratch with a new guy mid-season. Uggh.
