“Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources tell me and @JonKrawczynski. Butler has given Minnesota a list of one-to-three teams with whom he's open to signing extension, in anticipation of trade.”
the Knicks won't trade first round picks for guys they can sign in FA. That leads me to believe the only way it happens is if they take a light package. Who knows, Thibs is an odd duck.
I want to root for this team with some young talent and I think we may have nailed these two draft picks. I'd be okay with a future 1st and Hardaway, etc.
I want a Shooting Guard in the next draft and I think the Knicks will be in position to get a pretty good one. Romeo Langford being the guy I want. There will be a few decent ones to choose from. The FA I want is Anthony Davis in 2020.

I'm right with ya on Langford. He and Knox would be Houston/Sprewell 2.0. I would only disrupt the youth movement for the legit superstars - Kyrie, KD, Greek Freak and Anthony Davis.
unless they can pull it off without including KP, Knox, 2019 first, any unprotected first, and robinson.
Im aware that we cant make a trade without including the above, but thats the point. If we can get him for Frank, THJR, and a protected 2021 first then fine. And again for those who are going to come on here and say knick fans think they can get him for junk, im not saying we can get him for that package, im saying thats all we should offer and when we dont get him, fine.

i dont think any team with cap space should trade for him unless they can make a trade where they have room for a 2nd max
that the rumors about Butler and Kyrie wanting to play together are true. The Nets and Clippers have two max slots and the Knicks could potentially get there by getting KP to hold off on his extension til after they sign the first two although I'm not sure what the specifics are.
Are on the one the teams he wants. I’m a big fan of Butler but I don’t want to trade any meaningful assets for him. Knicks are years away, he’s 29 and a pending FA. Hopefully this regime is patient. Now if they want Hardaway - let’s make a deal.
Tyree, as I understand it he can be traded to any team. Â
won't be that juggernaut people expected. Butler will soon be out of there, and KAT doesn't seem thrilled to be there either. Wiggins is pretty good, but nothing special.
Knocks out 2 Big contracts in Lee and Hardaway and a 2nd. Mills won’t give up the future aka no Knox and no 1sts. Nobody is taking on Noah’s contract so Mills will either cut him or let his contract play out.
RE: RE: RE: RE: Jimmy Butler isn't the level of star that commands this Â
Porzingas, Knox, Frank and this years #1 are the future. Keep your cap space. That’s a very young core. Someone actually worth a max deal will want to come and play here with them when the time is right.
I predict Knox + 2019 1st + salary filler for Butler!
celtics will not trade for him..
lakers no reason to they have a max slot...
Knicks only make a trade if they take lee and noah, otherqise no reason tl

Knicks probably can't get a deal done regardless. I could see he and Kyrie teaming up with the Nets.
Nets may be able to get something done here.

Is it? He wants to go to a big market. New York and Los Angeles...
But no draft picks or young talent.
Wolves need to get this done before tip off or it will be a diaster.

it is teams he and kyrie both can go to
I agree. Toss in his history as a malcontent, and culture-building teams like the Knicks and Nets should stay far away.

Sprinkle in some diminishing knee cartilage to boot.

I'm guessing he knows that's completely unrealistic

Last season, Butler was 4th in the league on ESPN's real +/-.

Not that I think he's a bad player. He's a legitimate all star. But he's not a franchise-changing player IMO.
Lauri and Wendell.
Learn to love em’!!
i love frank but done deal for me as long as the first is not this year...
it still allows you to add a max...
kyrie
tim
jimmy
knox
kp
To me thats 3 big assets. The 1, Frank and the max cap slot Butler will require.
Pass.
