On Record, who's with me on a turn around this season!

SicilianGMEN : 9/19/2018 3:06 pm
Giants are winning Sunday and then winning next Sunday.....I think they go to the bye at 4-4.....now.....WHO'S WITH ME? Enough crying around here.....Giants pull it together at 1pm Sunday

Consecutive games don't necessarily look alike. We played the Jags better than the Patriots the first week and were completely uncompetitive with a worse team the next. Would I be shocked if we won next week? No.
O line needs to get together

much quicker than they are performing. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
I would like to see improvement
Jim in Forest Hills : 9/19/2018 3:19 pm : link
they may or may not win this week, but I want to see the Ol play better. Eli some time to throw and Barkley some room to run. See some pass rush. I want them to look like a functional offense as step 1.
If experience has taught me anything,
GiantNatty : 9/19/2018 3:22 pm : link
it's that folding a bad hand doesn't mean you're giving up, it means you're playing smart.

The odds are stacked heavily against the Giants. If you're asking me whether to bet on them or fold, I 100% have to fold this hand and hope the next one gives me better cards.

Of course I'll still watch and hope that they can turn it around, but it's very, very unlikely.
No chance

Spot on, old chap! I suspected with all the changes they would take a while to mesh. I didn't see the Oline being worse than last years though.

but rewatching it has me re-inspired. This team has a chance still. Can they win the SB? Who knows. I do think our past 2 SB championships came to teams who had some miserable performances along the way.

So yes, I'm with you. I'm going to buy into what Shurmur and Gettleman are selling. Giants are only 1 game out of first with 12 games to play, no reason to think they can't be a division winner.
I hope you're right

unless our OLine suddenly learns how to block or we somehow magically find depth at many positions, its very hard to find optimism this year. 6 wins for this team would be surprising at this point
Giants plus 7 looks tempting

Who knows WTF is up with Houston. Could be as big a basket case team than us.

Meh, I'll tune into watch freak show generational SB.

We will definitely turn it around.

If Houston's defensive staff and personnel are smart, and decent, it may be another long damn day.

STAHHHHHHHHHP.

That team had probowl and veteran talent on both sides of the ball and could only go as far as ELI could take them. And he took them to the SB.

This team doesn't have half the defense or OL we had then.
Count me in.
TMS : 9/19/2018 3:45 pm : link
This is a very depressing board after a loss, never mind two. We have just had a major overhaul in management, coaches, players and offensive and defensive schemes. We were in both of the first two game into late in the 4th quarter. and could have pulled both out. The old ELI and the Old Giants might well have done that. We lost two games by ten points and could have won them both. look at the stats; time of possession, yards, and turnovers, we were right there. Give it a chance till at least a quarter of the season is over. We shut out Jacksonville in the second half and our defense has played well enough to win in both games. Everybody seems to suck as well.

Dude... JAX we were in it until the very end. Dallas we were not in it. Lost by a TD but it would have taken a miracle for us to actually pull out the win. We were down 20-3 with like 4 min left.
Can’t say I’m with you on this one chief
Couchy : 9/19/2018 4:03 pm : link
I do believe our play will significantly improve (it pretty much can’t get any worse of course) but our strength of schedule is something else. 0-8 is a real possibility. Second half is far easier for I’m guessing a 4-12/5-11 season

Yeah, except that team had stars and solid players all over. The second game was with a QB who shouldn't have even been playing.

This team has brand new shiny rims and sleek tires on a reliable as fuck yugo! This isn't 2007!

OL youre right about, but overall talent...i mean

OBJ> burress
collins> g wilson
harrison> robbins
vernon>k mitchel
jenkins>s madison or webster
Barkley>bradshaw
engram>boss

lets not act like we have no talent here...

that 07 team had serious deficiencies too but we had an AMAZING pass rush and got hot at the right time.
i am in no way saying we will do that again, personally i think the OL is to much to overcome again this year, however i am tired of people saying this is the worst giants team in my lifetime or that 07 was so amazing.

even when it came to the offseason talk of who is playing free safety...people forgot we won a superbowl with james butler...do half of you remember him? i remember during the paraded when he jumped off his float or whatever people were like Plaxico!!!

again, we are in trouble this season, but lets not act like 07 was a superior team in terms of top end of roster talent...its simply false

think it’s going to be a long quiet ride home from Old Forge Sunday. My wife takes Giant losses worse than I do.
My feelings are well known on this.
Big Blue '56 : 9/19/2018 4:43 pm : link
But my disclaimers have always been, with reasonable injury situation and at least average OL play. 2 games mean squat to me as I feel the newcombers on the OL will soon mesh. If not, then the O weapons we have which I believe are considerable, will mean next to nothing. Poor Eli
I'm actually pretty optimistic
Amazinz : 9/19/2018 4:51 pm : link
about the Houston game.

No idea why, though! It can't get any worse, I guess.
i think Shurmur and staff coach them up and they turn it around.
markky : 9/19/2018 5:25 pm : link
it was just a few years ago that everyone was calling for Brady's head after a Pats debacle against KC. BB shook up the OL and they turned it around right away.

Of course, we're in much worse shape than that but I expect Shurmur to make some changes coming up and turn the Giants into a mediocre team, which would be a huge improvement.
I'm with you man...
Allen in CNJ : 9/19/2018 5:27 pm : link
all these guys panicking and the chaos in this board and media is ridiculous. Let it play out!
Let's Do It
Biteymax22 : 9/19/2018 5:30 pm : link
Remember we're 0-2, but only 1 back with 14 to play!

If the O-Line learns to pick up a stunt the team will improve dramatically. The formula is there, I'm a fan and will stick with the team to the end.

Go Giants!

I think Shurmur is a damb good coach, now that he's seen what he has for two games he will make the right adjustments. Out talent is just not that bad.

The 2011 Oline was shaky at best. The 2012 line was just pain bad.

It had culture and an identity, like Jaxonville all of a sudden for some reason!
The O-Line
Allen in CNJ : 9/19/2018 9:17 pm : link
for the 07' team was basically together for a couple years prior to 07', with the exception of Diehl and the subtraction of Petitgout.

The 07' team had leaders that were on the downside, and guys that overperformed. Those guys were grinders, ALL OF THEM, and they all did their part on a weekly basis to keep it together.

But BBI was an interesting place in September of 07', after the Packers loss, and the talk of firing Coughlin, Eli's injury in Dallas, and a swiss cheese D was the impetus for overreaction, panic, chaos, and people here NOT LETTING THINGS PLAY OUT - LIKE IT IS NOW!

If anything, let 07' teach you that the season is a marathon, not a sprint, and there's still plenty of time left to turn this ship around!
let's go !!!!!

The schedule and the state of the roster left to this FO made that a near certainty. What it can be is a season of progress. So now sit back, watch it unfold, and hopefully enjoy as much as you can while we wait for next season....when we will compete for the playoffs.
Watt
Thegratefulhead : 9/20/2018 11:42 am : link
I watched the entire Titans vs Texans game. They move Watt to the weakest link on the OL. Inside, outside doesn't matter. He will be lined up over our Rookie Guard and Flowers every time down and distance requires a pass. What do you honestly think is going to happen?

they may or may not win this week, but I want to see the Ol play better. Eli some time to throw and Barkley some room to run. See some pass rush. I want them to look like a functional offense as step 1.

The offense needs to put together TD drives early .
Give Eli some time to get throws past 5 yards these dumpoffs
are not a recipe for success . open some run lanes get
SB some room to get up field show some consistency
Put a W on the board this week .
