There's plenty of blame to to around ...

Manny in CA : 9/20/2018 1:05 am

Starting at the top; how does a team play so well against a better team (JAX) and then get undressed against a team who looked absolutely helpless the week before (Dallas) ?

The "braintrust" (Schurmer, Shula [especially OL coach Hunter] fizzled out in the 1st quarter])

Here's a good review of what went wrong ...

Correction ... to go around .

Possible that

Jacksonville was looking ahead to their home opener against the Patriots.

They wrapped it up in the first half, felt us out, then lost Fournette in the 2nd half and it got close but if they needed a stop I bet they get it. We are just not ready yet.
schurmer

Schermer, schurmur, schermur shermur, schurmur

SHURMUR it is not that difficult is it?
There’s little blame to go around after 2 games

save for the OL, which will improve with time. IMO

It was clear our Ol vs Dallas DL they wanted it more. Gettint beat by better team never bothered me as long as we gave our all generally speaking.

But man, we were getting beat and tossed around like a community college.

One would think of some form of rage would take hold and fight back, making a statement saying we are not giving up. As Dallas bitch slapped us time and time again.

Sure eli has to check down because he has to time to hold the ball to see if anyone is open. So basically the defense has to spent less energy and time defending OBJ and others.
Possible we were satisfied with a moral victory
Coach Red Beaulieu : 9/20/2018 9:12 am : link
Against HoF Coughlin's championship-level Jax.

And Dallas was like a cornered animal after embarrassing loss to Car.
Or maybe,

both teams are better?

The frustrating part is they weren't getting beat physically, it was mostly mental mistakes (as Collinsworth mentioned during the broadcast). Quite often a rusher was unimpeded to the QB as two guys blocked the same guy, poor communication up front. Can it be fixed, we gotta hope so or this season is in the toilet.
You got that straight...

*The D falling down 10-0. JackRabbit got blamed but he's in cover 3 and he correctly forces the inside release so the S can get over the top on a vertical. He doesn't get a good jam but that's Riley's play and he compounds it by missing the tackle at the 12.

*Shurmur turning into Ben McAdoo sometime last week. He simply did not run the ball enough early from under center. This was going to be a slugfest against a low-scoring DAL team that had a good pass rush.

*Barkley continually coming up and inch short of the 1st down. (The play where he got pushed OOB instead of lowering his shoulder was particularly frustrating.)

*Eli missing a wide open screen to Engram and instead throwing to Barkley for a short gain. This was great play design - the entire D moved with Barkley right while Engram slipped out to the left with 3 OL in front of him. I really think Barkley was supposed to be a decoy on this play. Eli inexplicably threw to Barkley who was immediately surrounded by 8 Cowboys with no blockers. Unreal.

*Shepard letting a ball bounce of his facemask that would've likely made the game 10-3 going into the half. Giants receive 2nd half kickoff.

----------

The game got out of hand immediately and that really put the heat on the OLine, where playcalling becomes more predictable and the D is more aggressive. DAL is a tough team to fall down by 10 early to.

All of this stuff had nothing to do with the OLine but played a major factor in how this game turned out.
