need to see proof that the Giants can actually block. Right now, teams are getting pressure and stopping the run with just four or five players. That leaves Eli to throw against six or seven defenders most of the time, so he checks down.
At least in his first game, I don't see Wheeler making that much of a difference, especially against the Texans' DL. This is about Flowers being bad, not Wheeler suddenly blossoming into a starting caliber RT. But a change had to be made, and as someone said, we just need average.
Forget production. I'm concerned for Eli's health.
No..we got pressure but this is another QB who can easily adjust in the pocket to buy some time. He made to big plays already due to his mobility. Otherwise, they would have punted.

Giants CB Antonio Hamilton is out with a groin injury. Giants down to three CBs: Jenkins, Webb and Deayon. Hamilton has been a core special teams player, must have gotten hurt on the opening kickoff.

bad. We stiffened in the red zone. We've gotten pressure on Watson, but he's elusive. We have stifled Miller. Snacks and Wynn have been excellent. Wynn made some plays in the first two games, so that's why he's starting.
controlled the LOS. Wheeler has been OK against Watt, but that's a load of talent he's facing. They have given him some help, but he's held his own on most plays. What's even better is the play of the interior OL.
Have to keep running the ball and let Wheeler and Greco settle in. Really glad they are giving Wheeler a lot of help, absolutely cannot afford him to get pushed around.
Amazing what running the ball can do to slow down a pass rush. Markedly better interior run blocking, and lots of 2 TE looks. Ellison is flanking Wheeler a lot.

Saquon Barkley has gone into the Giants' injury tent. Seemed to have an issue with his right knee after his first carry.
giving Wheeler help, as they should. No fault to him. It's his first start, and he's matched up against Watt. The pocket has generally been clean, and we've hit a lot of the crossing routes that are a staple of Shurmur's offense. We're also running well.
Really good athleticism. Much needed quality in your outside LBer too. He needs to play more. In fact Id love to see more of him and less of Martin. Maybe when OV returns.

Rosas has been excellent.
Watt smoked by Wheeler a couple times, but otherwise I think Wheelers held up reasonably well. And hes managed to do so without holding or tripping anyone so far.
Manning didn't just up and forget how to play adequate quarterback. If he's getting his shit kicked in every play he's not going to overcome that at 37.
I'll enjoy this game, but temper it with Houston also being a shit team.
I'm just glad to not see Manning getting curb stomped for a week.

Just curious why we took Hill out after the sack? he destroyed that tackle. Take out the guys who aren't putting any pressure on.
Eli could not step up because the corner blitzed, was coming straight for him and nobody picked the guy up. This was truly more of a blown pickup by the guard than Wheeler getting beaten. Yes, Watt ran around Wheeler but if Eli had nobody coming in his face he could have stepped up.

Radio.com strea WFAN. As long as you start streaming about 30 mins prior to the game, it continues with the stream. If you try and join in after kickoff, no good.
Eli can still play.. The OL made progress everyone was better. Wheeler can build off of today no missed assignments. Beaten physically at times but not bad.
I understand what Watt did but understanding it is J.J. Watt and realizing that for most of the 2nd half we failed to adjust and give Wheeler some help, once we did we took it in for a score.
Wheeler is at least competing out there unlike Flowers. Something to build on. Take things one week at a time.

Solder is playing very well and Hernandez is invisbile, which for a lineman is great.
I fully expect that the Texans will start bring extra guys off the edge and will star running stunts.
