A function of a terrible offensive line and a scared quarterback.
This team, even with all of its weapons, isn't going anywhere this season.
Cant get 20 points on one of the worst defenses in football...at home?
Every time NO needed a stop, what did they do?
Thats right, blitz the A gap...And guess what, it worked each time...
OL is shit and thus the offense is shit.
This franchise should actually apologize to Eli (who is, like it or not, the best QB we ever had) for wasting most of his prime years and the end of his career with shitty OL
I just hope we get a high enough pick (top 5) and use it to fix this OL, so that next year we can actually move forward.

He had time today. The play calling and game plan was conservative. Scared to make a mistake
Eli had some nice pockets in the first half. He missed throws downfield that could have changed the game. It’s not all on the oline. DG and company badly misjudged the state of the franchise. Not much else to be said.
You don’t wait that long to fix the Oline, it will come back to haunt you. It’s what makes a team go. Shurmur unfortunately looks like a clone of Mcadoo?! You don’t have this many weapons and not be able to score against horrible defenses like Saints???! That’s Embarrassing!! This franchise is just lost and doesn’t know what to do to get this ship back on track.. It’s bad football..
Shurmur said as much after they drafted Hernandez. "If you can't block them, nothing works." We can't block anybody. Four and five DL are controlling our OL, so Eli is constantly forced to check down because he's constantly throwing against six or seven defenders.
The D simply got worn out, a problem that will likely happen earlier in games as the season progresses.
I think that’s part of it. They were keeping two safeties deep so as not to get beaten over the top and yes, their front was getting pressure, but to beat the two deep look, you have to run the ball and we couldn’t t run the ball for shit again! It’s an ongoing issue and will impact us all year again, unless we start to pick it up there.
looks like another top 5 opportunity. Gotta get this shit squared away. Obvious we are not winning now. Management we fans aren't that gullible jeez christ !
It all begins there. Giants don't have one. Defenses go through them like tissue paper. Is it Shurmer? Of course not. Though it's not clear he's a plus in any way. It takes a few years to build an O line and I doubt he'll still be there when that happens.

OL was mediocre. They didn't completely hamstring us and they weren't good. Same old. Stating it's just the O Line is reductive and it's getting fucking old.

This. With the supposed talent we have getting mediocre OL play should be enough to power the rest of the offense. Green Bay gets mediocre OL play for example.
I say this every week, but having this poor of an offense is not acceptable in a league where Mitch Trubisky throws for 354 and 6 Tds.
At some point Shurmur needs to take the reigns off and just let Eli sling it, protection be damned.
I don't expect this team to win a lot of games this year, but I DO expect to see them improve, and right now, the offense is not improving at all and they are wasting precious time with Eli/OBJ
is a lost cause. They will be lucky to achieve mediocrity in another two years. The Bills, the Cardinals and the Giants are the three worst teams. And the other two have their franchise QB.
With an elite receiver that has no fcking clue how to get him the ball.
They don’t even try to throw him open or throw fifty fifty balls. It’s just embarrassing-
And at this stage it has nothing to do with the ol— they block enough
team is built backwards. Great position players but not enough in the trenches. This can't be fixed until next year at the earliest, and maybe not until 2020, by which time Eli will likely be finished.
2 big throws on first down in the first half it basically kills those drives—- with zero pressure- perfect play call—— garbage execution - no drives as a result- no ability to use Barkley

Not reductive enough for you, I see. Simple as it was, you didn't get it all into your brain. You omit my comments about Shurmur (who, indcidentally, does not play O line). And I did not say, as you put it, that it's "just the O line." I said it starts there. Yes, that, too, is old. But get used to it until we have one. You'll hear it from everyone. Just ask.

after a loss, but some of the shit I'm reading is ridiculous. Too many people want results and want them now. They didn't experience the down years and just want instant satisfaction. WE ARE 4 GAMES INTO THE SEASON, AND THIS TEAM IS A WORK IN PROGRESS!!!!!
2 weeks ago I said this team would be fine, and I still think this team will be fine.
The Saints are a very good football team, THEY ARE A SUPER BOWL CONTENDER, and they are a complete football team. Both sides of the ball, no matter what the stupid numbers say, they are a SUPERIOR football team. The Giants hung with them for the better part of 40 minutes.
THIS IS NORMAL.
This Giants team is STILL jelling, and will continue to jell and mesh as this season goes along.
Give it time, and keep the faith.
And finally, all you crybabies blaming Eli for another loss really need to look at the tape - STOP ALVIN KAMARA, TACKLE BETTER, AND BLOCK FOR THE QUARTERBACK!!!! IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!!!!!!

thanks allen. Much needed infusion of perspective and common sense
Thanks to the this pitiful franchise heading straight to oblivion, Â

Fully Agree..... Keep ignoring the trenches.
They haven't ignored it, they've just missed terribly in their attempts to address it. And when you miss as badly as they have, multiple times, you can't possibly fix it quickly because the rest of the roster is in flux. Making the whole thing exponentially worse is that the FA OL crops of the last 2 seasons have been abysmal. That has definitely been a factor as well. They've picked one of the worst times in the history of free agency to screw the pooch with picks like Pugh, Richburg, and Flowers.
They're gonna be digging themselves out of this hole for 3 years.
RE: Thanks to the this pitiful franchise heading straight to oblivion, Â
Good idea. This offensive unit is offensive to watch: Futlity Football. Somebody please email me when the Giants get a good GM, HC, and offensive unit..
Pussy game plan on offense. You’re facing a defense who has been gashed by opposing WRs all year and you do nothing to expose that weakness all game. Shurmur needs to grow some balls.
But a quarterback has to make some plays above the X and O s. He s not always going to have perfect conditions. Even today there were plays early that Eli missed. Plays that could have made a difference.
I think they might jell, but Eli has to play better too
I haven't enjoyed attending a Giants game in quite a long time Â

Joe I agree also. I saw Eli make maybe 3 bad throws today that he should've made, 2 of which were to Beckham. A lot of his issues today again were due to pressure and him being "shook" in the pocket.
But in the last 2 weeks, he's probably made 5 bad throws, at the most, and that sure as hell isn't bad as he was near perfect against the Texans and today he was only OK.
Again you gotta help the guy out up front. If they can get that together this team will get on a roll.

Good thing that Gettleman traded away Brett Jones for a 7th round pick.
If the Giants had a genuine backup quarterback they were grooming Â
to take over, I think he would be one more loss away from starting. With the playoffs unobtainable, it would be time to pass the torch, not unlike when Eli took over halfway through his rookie season.
As it is, the rest of this season will be just dreary, with our two star offensive players absorbing a lot of punishment in meaningless games.
If you can hold star players out of meaningless preseason games, can you hold them out of meaningless regular season games? (joke)
Pity that Eli didn't retire with the ouster of Coughlin. He just continues to damage his legacy by playing with a group of players that give him in his present state no chance of success.
As a cold fact, Eli will be remembered as an average quarterback who had two fairytale seasons. As proof, they will show you his career stats. You are what your record says you are. All in my humble opinion.
The problems can be attributed to the Mara’s. They felt the team was close, so decided to hire an aging GM, who agreed with the owners plan to build around Eli.
In truth, Eli or not, this team is far from competing for the playoffs and management should have been honest with themselves and the fans.
We need to understand that both lines need work (DL does not have a pass rusher) and the team needs to start facing this fact. Barkley is being wasted with such a poor oline.
Let Eli finish this season and retire in dignity. Draft one of the top QB’s, draft for both lines and use the cap space from Eli’s retirement and cutting Vernon to go get a pass rusher.
Look into the best catches of last year. Giants receivers had four of them. What does that tell you? That doesn't mean that we have elite receivers, it means we have a QB that can't hit himself in the ass with a handful of rice.
Last post every about Eli. I'm sure some that read this will be happy as hell. There are a lot of shitty - average OL in the NFL, yet the teams are still competitive. Even when Eli has time, he doesn't use the talent available for downfield passes.
He plays like a scared 11 yr. old. Philly figured it out over 8 years ago when they decided to stop the run and force Eli to beat them—pretty sound game plan...
Mix immobility with average accuracy on passes over 8 yards and this is what you have. There are a ton of mobile, young QBs riding the bench that they could still trade for this year and tell Eli, "Dude, thanks, but time for you to retire."
He is always gun shy once he gets pressured and this year is worse than last year. He anticipates pressure instead of reacting to the defense.
Probably worst of the NfC East
That is very optimistic. At this rate, Giants are 4-12, one game better than Reese and McAdoo. But that is not guranreed.
A function of a terrible offensive line and a scared quarterback.

We didn't put together any drives. It's hard to feed your RB when you don't keep the ball.
100% agree. Perfecly stated
And only 11 against Dallas. They really messed up hiring this clown

I did not realize Shurmur had an iffensive game plan. Looked like sorry sandlot football to me. Thus offense is pitiful.
