Outside of Barkley's fantastic run for 30 yards where he had to spin and juke in the backfield to avoid a loss, the Giants (Barkley) had 14 carries for 18 yards.
That is disgraceful
Until this offensive line can't figure out how to push the defensive line back and create running lanes, this team isn't going to be a threat in this league.
not positive but it almost seems like they are run blitzing.

Are these teams run blitzing? Are the Giants tipping the plays?

Maybe B in ALB can chime in, but it sure seems teams are very aggressive off the edges and in the gaps to be getting in that quickly and often.
The other 13 were for -2. You can change the QB all you want. Our OL is fucking awful.
There's no question this isn't the RB... it's the blocking. Or.. lackthereof.
So far they have made good defensive calls against us.
Eventually Shurmur will figure it out and get the right play called.
The opportunities are there but he's not quite there yet.
Giants need to have the right call for the blitzes and get Barkley in the right position to take advantage.
Maybe it will happen.
👍
I am by no means a football expert, but your first point has been the major problem with this offense. Teams dominate the line of scrimmage and get pass pressure without committing extra players to the box or too pass pressure. This clogs passing lanes and makes it difficult to go downfield and get guys open. The Giants are the worst rushing team in the NFL. This also does not allow the offense to dictate physically to the Opposition and wear down opposing pass rushers and defensive front players with run blocking. This issue has not improved at all despite bringing in a very talented back.
Sanders was a little different - lower center of gravity, a little quicker.
But the gist of it, yeah - I get it.. Sanders often had strings of carries that were like... 2 yards, -1 yard, 3 yards, 0 yards, -2 yards, 68 yard TD...
Barkley has been similar in that regard.
That said - Sanders, to me, was the greatest RB I've ever seen. Barkley has to do a lot more before I put him in the same sentence. But I get the general idea and it's not totally off.
Off the top of my head, I recall two plays - first where Short made a great play from the back side. It's possible he was unblocked by scheme but you'd think even a body in his way gives SB an easy get away
The other where Solder took the more inside DL, Hernandez looked to block the same guy, then tries to loop back on the DE or LB on the outside, by which time SB was on the ground
Any player is better on O with a good OL, but Ima love to see him work with even a halfway decent one. Hopefully this crew just gets it going...
There are definitely worse comparisons.
