It seemed Eli had some time & took shots down the field. Is it safe to say the offensive line play is now at least a C-? I’ll leave it to the BBI’ers who are better suited to analyze the play, but it seems better.
Eli took a bunch of hits earlier in the game which led to him being a bit erratic before settling down again later. They opened very few holes for Barkley. He basically had to make everything happen on his own.
caused Barkley to have 15 carries for 48 yards. One of those was a 30 yarder that would have been a tackle for a loss, and another was a 20 yarder (but I don't remember how he came by that 20 yard run).

Which amazes me because DG placed an emphasis on getting guys that could block for the running game. Hog Mollies!!! Pass blocking was much better and seems to be the only thing this line is doing ok at.
Maybe they need to change up blocking schemes. When was the last time the pulled the Guard or used a Fullback? Barkley's getting hit consistently before he can get through the line!
I didn't delude myself into thinking this was going to be a good OL Â

Carolina’s game plan was to load the edges and keep Barkley going up the middle. They often had either the OLB/S/Nickel lined up right outside the DE. Everytime Barkley got hit in the backfield it was a free edge rusher (Some simply off well timed run blitz calls that the offense just didn’t have the blockers for.) and it made sense since they have Short and Poe lines up in the middle.
Some of you really need to look more critically at what the defense is doing than just saying “the oline cant run block” 🙄. Besides. I think they did a good job sticking with the run game throughout and, as we saw, if you keep with it Barkley will make his fair share of plays regardless.
I Think the run scheme is awful, and has been for YEARS.
Don't get me wrong, this OL, especially the RG/RT/C SUCK, but its hard to get a good push in the run game when you are constantly running out of the shotgun, and it 2pt stances.
Put Barkley in a deep Single back, or I formation, and let him come downhill. Tell the OL you are going to run it up their backs until they get a push.
The run-blocking was as bad as humanly possible.

Those stats are simply astounding.
We have one of the most talented rb's I've ever seen and he rarely gets a hole to run through. Everything he gets, he gets on his own.
Our oline is dreadful.
And why we insist on trying to run right, behind #70 and #63 is beyond me.
This is what I see too.

Agreed.

I've seen way worse. But still a lot of mistakes and breakdowns.
