which is really bad for the league, normally coaches will want to avoid fine but this hortible officiating is going to get coaches fired and they are not going to sit back and say nothing anymore
100% agreed was sitting at the bar talking to a dolphins fan. He was watching giants game too and said how awful the officiating was. The nfl is at a vulnerable spot and good for these coaches not sitting back anymore. These refs need to be held accountable. Even the rams game gurly looked like he got a first down on 2nd at end of game and it wasn’t even reviewed under 2 minutes. Granted they won but I have no clue what is buzzed down and what’s nots if Goff doesn’t get that first down on 4th down Seattle 10 yards from a fg to win it.
RE: And anyone thinking all the ref bitching today Â
was just because of the Giants game can take a hike. This is a huge problem, the NFL is just a putrid product.
Agreed. But it's clear to me the refs are now just in an impossible situation. The rules committee/league has made the sport impossible to officiate and play.
I actually think the league has taken the position that any publicity is good publicity. And they can ride this out; and largely because the games are still very competitive with so many last possession games. Most importantly, the ratings are healthy.
The customer has the ultimate power by just refusing to watch. But that seems to be a lot easier said than done...
The NFL is headed quickly to NBA level shittiness Â

That Gurley play was bizarre. Watching it real time I thought he clearly got a first down but then I assumed I missed something because Fox didn't show a replay and the announcers didn't even mention it. Nor did the Rams seem to be complaining.
The league is a disaster right now
