Giants linebackers ...

Manny in CA : 10/8/2018 12:54 am
* . The Giants really miss the QB sacks that OV specializes in.

* . Kareem Martin gets to play because he has a history with the coaching staff, else he would be sitting on the bench

* Ogletree is proving he is SOLID, and a leader

* . Ray-Ray; why did the Niners release him ? He's fast and makes plays all over the field.

* Goodson is a future Pro Bowler, that just needs more playing time

* .Carter ; the most naturally talented, could be ALL PRO in 2-3 years.

* Barwin; can still give you solid reserve play

Goodson is a future Pro Bowler

???

Looks very average. Typical Reese pick.
Goodson
RAIN : 10/8/2018 1:29 am : link
is very limited in coverage. To me, he's an average to below average player. It's why we see Ray Ray.

Kareem Martin played well the first few games, but he's leveled out. He can be a plus player if he's on a pitch count.

Barwin is streaky. He finally made a few plays today.

Carter is having his ups and downs as a rookie, but has flashed.

The group as a whole needs work. OV will help out this unit, but another inside backer that can run and cover is needed, along with another pass rusher.
Goodson looked very good ...

His rookie year; then got hurt and digressed. Maybe the team is not in a position to give him the playing time he needs to develop; that would be a shame if that's the case.

He has very good instincts and the players he hits "stay hit"

By NO means do I put him in a "Harry Carson" league, but inside line backers who are good and reliable tacklers can provide the "insurance" for outside line backers to take chances and play a little reckless - that's what I see Goodson eventually being.

The LB's are ok

Gotta get more pressure. It's a 3-4 defense and we need to sack the qb

can't tackle for shit?
OK...

Goodson is not Harry Carson. Got it. I'll mark that down here. Thank you.
Romeo Okwara
chilly460 : 10/8/2018 5:00 am : link
Just saw that Romeo Okwara has 3 sacks this year for the Lions, Giants have 6 total on the year. Detroit runs a hybrid 4-3, 3-4 which should require same skillset as what the Giants are running. Small sample size so may mean nothing, but also could be a case of letting a guy go that could have helped the team.
They are better than

what they have had. Their lack of pass rush will always kill them. We'll see if Vernon can fix that.
Anyone else dissapointed in Collins' play last night?
JFIB : 10/8/2018 7:48 am : link
The tackling was piss poor yesterday but I thought 21 in particular did a poor job of wrapping up a few times.
RayRay and Goodson?

Seriously?

the original post was NOT made in jest?

We have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.

I’ve been very disappointed all season. Is not the same player I watched 2 years ago. Doesn’t bring the same physicality or seem to be flying around.
I was..

thinking we should move Engram to LB to make them an All-World unit.
Tackling is bad around the league
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 10/8/2018 9:38 am : link
Nobody wraps, everyone just throws shoulders, particularly in the secondary.
I am a little at a loss with people here characterizing

Vernon as a sacks guy. He had 6.5 last year and 8.5 the year before. He's fantastic against the run, but hasn't really been an incredible pass rusher since he's been here.
