Great article, captures the last few weeks of Giants football and provides some perspective.
Here are some highlights.
“Gone was that calm, replaced by the kind of fire and ice the Giants have not had in their head coach since Tom Coughlin defiantly walked off that stage inside the Quest Diagnostics Training Center following his resignation in 2015.”
“Consider what Giants left tackle and co-captain Nate Solder tweeted Sunday night: "That’s the NFL and that’s why we play in the most competitive league in the world. It doesn’t make it easy to swallow a loss, however, we bonded as a team today. A bond only achieved under fire. I’m thankful for them, and I could not be more proud to be a Giant."
“Losing was just as devastating Sunday, but Shurmur set a different tone. We'll see if that makes a difference as the Giants prepare on a short week to see the Eagles at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night. Their season, or whatever is left of it, depends on that.
Remains to be seen if the season can be saved now that his fire (and that of his team) appears to be lit.”
“One of the biggest knocks of the Giants over the past few seasons is that they have zero players willing to speak out publicly on the state of the team. Not since Antrel Rolle was here did Big Blue have a vocal leader comfortable with stepping out in front and saying what needed to be said, consequences be damned.
The timing of Beckham's interview was bad, and maybe he isn't the messenger the media and fans want.
Was his message a selfish one? Well, the setting certainly was. It was unnecessary, and left him open for criticism. Let's be honest here: how can we scream and yell about the Giants needing a leader, but then when one tries to step up — in his own way, for sure, and likely not the way he should have, at least not publicly — we scream and yell about how Beckham should know his place since he's never won anything.”

Whatever it was, is pissed the team off to play like a real NFL team again. And Shurmer pissed off is just what we need as a fan.
BTW, I think OBJ was right, but delivered the message the wrong way. Let's hope the fire shows up Thursday, I'd love to beat the Eagles for a change.

Can’t prove it, but I’d bet two Giants had a conversation similar to the one in the clip at some point yesterday.
on the field OBJ is a player
was out there as a punt returner
threw a TD pass
had a bunch of amazing catches including a great TD catch
the guy is backing up his talk with action
If you did this in the corporate world, you'd be in deep shit and possibly fired.

They signed a nutjob and the owners made the bed we are living in. Yesterday the optic was him ranting and raving around a cooling fan as he misses a TD throw, muffs a punt that results in Carolina points and then champions himself for throwing a trick pass.
I know I myself was complaining about some of the play calling and not going to the TE's seemed a good team to
exploit the middle with a TE Ellison I think ended up
with 3 throws his way . This is part of the reason I prefer
a bigger TE where they can pick up underneath yardage and
the body to take the hits you know are coming .
Anyways the Nate Soldier comments are great to hear .
Galvanized the Team and Proud to be a Giant .
They might be a bit over matched Thurs but They will knuckle up and give it to the Eagles . O-line will be tested as they
were week one Philthy has a powerful and deep group on the D-line .Maybe we can turn the tables on them and make that bus ride home miserable as we were Sunday !

team-approved radio spot on WFAN. With the information we have, it appears that Odell went around the team's communications department and did an interview on a national TV outlet without giving the team the courtesy of advance notice.

Nutjob? Really? Little harsh considering what he said wasn’t wrong, and he owned up to it.
I’ll take 53 nutjobs like him every Sunday.

The only nut jobs are the dumb ass fans calling their best play a nut job. The Giants have a loser attitude. They need some fire and passion. Should he have done it on ESPN, probably not. But he was still right. Just last week I heard Tedy Bruschi say the players were getting tired of certain players not living up to their talent (believe he said Eli). Take that for what it is worth.
He even throws in a shot at NY weather stating he does not want to live here. He comes off horrible in the interview. I know all that matters is what happens on the field, but color me deeply concerned by what he stated publicly in the interview. He is the face of the Giants now. Always looking to cast blame on others and believing you are the reason for all success is like corrosive acid to football team building. Football teams need to come together as one. So now we know Beckham thinks Eli is holding him back, Eli is on his way out but has the rep and pelts to be his own man and lead the team on the field. What is going to happen next year when there is a new QB. A young guy is going to stand up to Beckham when he is not being force fed the rock every game?
I have seen the diva WR movie before, and it is not a happy ending. I do not consider this kind of stuff fire and passion. Hope I am wrong.
