It is funny seeing all the negative comments he gets because he "is always hurt". Most of these comments are probably coming from people who have no idea what they are talking about. Yes, he has been hurt but who is anybody to question his heart? It is bullshit imo.
Since Vernon came here in 2016 he has played an insane amount of snaps. In 2016 he played with a shattered hand and never missed a game. In 2017, he missed 4 games. In 2018, he has suffered a high ankle sprain that takes months to recover from. But lets continue to throw the guy to the wolves that has fought his ass off for us. Classy.
In 2016 he played 1040 total snaps. That was number 1 among all DL. The next closest was Buckner at 1005 and then Suh at 973 and then the list goes down from there.
In 2017 he played 701 total snaps. He missed 4 games and was also hurt sometime in the middle of week 4. So that is about 4.5 games. So if you look at his per game number of snaps he was about 61 snaps per game. The number of 701 snaps was still good enough for 35th among all DL across the NFL. Think about that, he was 35th overall while missing approximately a month of the season. JPP finished number 2 overall with 1011. If you prorate Vernon over that time with the pace he was at he would have finished with 975 snaps which would have been good for 4th overall in the NFL among DL.
So, this guy was playing damn near every snap without a rotation like most teams use, has gutted out a shattered hand, has been a good teammate, and a lot of people feel the need to bury him for suffering a few injuries playing for the team you root for?
Sorry, I think that is extremely distasteful. How about having our old GM get some DL depth in here so he wasn't abused?
It sucks that Vernon is banged up but there is no way I would ever question another player's heart or balls for not playing a couple of games especially with a high ankle sprain.
I assure you Vernon wants to be out there and is more frustrated than any fan.
Yes, he was very dependable for the Dolphins. We ain't the Dolphins.
Be patient, man.

Gets crapped on here for him kneeling more than him being injured. Fans just hide the real reason they are upset with him by saying he's soft etc.

?
He played a full 16 games his first year and only missed 4 games last year. He could still come back and potentially play the majority of the games this year as well. I don’t know where this narrative came from but it’s freaking obnoxious
No I could care less if he kneels. I am tired of our over paid defensive end not playing due to injuries what seems like every year.

Then you don't fit the description of the fans I was talking about.
That said, missing “ only 4 games last year” is VERY misleading. He played at far less efficiency because of his injury status and that didn’t help all that much. So yes, technically he played 12 games, but that is indicative of very little aside from heart.
I treated countless HAS through the years and every patient heals at their own rate, depending of course on the degree of severity. I have no expectations about OV, but I have very little confidence that he’ll be back at anywhere near peak efficiency, at least without re-tweaking the area. I don’t expect much from him this year, at least in viewing this from afar
He’s on the all overpaid team along with Solder and unfortunately, Eli. People think he is the answer to our anemic pass rush but he didn’t’t provide much when healthy. Could we use him? Sure, but you can’t help me if you’re not on the field.
For this guy to be truly effective, he has to be healthy.....something we have hardly seen....
When he was with Miami? I honestly can't remember him "taking over" a game a la [insert name of preferred elite defender].
All that said, I like him, especially his work against the run. Looking forward to him getting healthy and showing us what he can do from the OLB spot.
We have yet too see him in a 3-4 as a Giant I am not sure
what he played in Miami assume a 3-4 as well . My Nephew is
a huge Marino Phins fan He is a Penn St. Grad environmental Eng for BAE Good smart Kid anyways he told me that we would be disappointing in Vernon I don't recall what his reason was but there that .
Hopefully he will be in the lineup next week .
Can we expect him Thurs. ? He has practiced but not full I guess .

I see what you have been doing. I am right there with ya.
