+1. Pass blocking was adequate, but run blocking was terrible. Once again they couldn't open running lanes; the right side of the line got very little push. I know it is early into the season and the new O, but Omameh so far appears to be a big swing & miss by DG.

We only save 1.4 m by cutting him in 2019, and a 6.2m in dead money. They need to force a massive paycut, which I think he takes, down to say 3m, 50% savings and he still gets 3m. He is fine at 3m, considering the long game.
but quite frankly there are plenty of NFL teams with olines that cannot provide the statue experience for a given NFL QB. Eli is paid handsomely to get that ball downfield, it is too bad he does not have mobility and has to move faster. Too bad dude, earn your fucking money stand in the pocket and get it to your playmakers.
as is the defense, especially if we ever get Vernon back. We let a few of these game slip away but I see overalll improvement each week. Figured to be a rough start with all these new faces and schemes. Thankfully we are not dead yet in the NFC East. So we should keep the faith hope for continued development.

+2 at times the run blocking looked like a jailbreak with no one blocking up front, Barkley had almost no shot at times with D in his face as soon as he got the ball.
and I thought Eli did a much better job moving in the pocket and escaping the rush while keeping his eyes down the field. He hasn't done a lot of that this year(or last), IMO, but yesterday he did and it led to some big plays.
And Solder is not living up to his contract..... Â
This OL is another 2-3 years away from possibly being decent, and Solder won't be around.....paid too much for the guy.....Pats went out and got a guy making 1/10 as much, and is playing equal, if not better than Solder....
You almost always over pay for free agents.Teams can only be built through good scouting.Draft well.Sign players off practice squads or who are young and back ups.If we cut Omameh and Solder we will likely replace current bad contracts with new bad contracts.

You don't think the OL can be "decent" next year....esp if we add a nice center from the draft???
I really think the OL will be decent by year's end. Figure Hernandez to learn the ropes by then and seems to me that Wheeler is doing a nice job.
This line can easily be decent in 2019.

Not true at all. If the Giants signed Donovan Smith or Ja’wuan James in free agency and add a guard on day 2 the line could be very solid next season.
3 first downs rushing and 50 yards on the ground total. That’s botatom feeder stuff in the NFL, only reason game was close is Panthers O almost as bad as the giants. Two ints in the fourth quarter? That’s pathetic!
When a team run blitzes as successfully as the Panthers did, they know it's coming and they go for it. When you watch film and get told what to look for and you see it in the game do as coached, you get more confident and the team gets more confident. So, the conclusion here is that we're tipping our runs either by formation or down or something the OL is giving away.
The ol is looking a little better at pass blocking - Â
I can sorta see Eli but as of now I am 50/50 on him .... as the OL gets better he has gotten better ... Eli needs to take a straight pay cut with the $$$ going directly into the OL.

The damning point is that the run blitz tells you that without Barkley we are toast. Good thing we started throwing that ball downfield.
Between rollouts and sliding in the pocket. Eli actually played better. He wasn't a statue. That's actually one of the things that makes Brady so good. Subtle moves in the pocket to buy time.
long ways away. I think the Giants need to change up the run blocking schemes a little. How about pulling a Guard or FB lead or pitch to Barkley allowing him to find the cut back lane, etc. Not very imaginative running the ball and perhaps those formations are tipping off the defenders and so change it up.
pass blocking was better. Eli still took a massive hit and was pressured more than we'd like, but pass blocking an immobile QB is a very difficult task. We need to keep that in mind when evaluating our OL pass blocking vs. others.
Here are the running plays:
1st and 10 - Barkley for -2
1st and 10 - Barkley for 2
1st and 10 - Barkley for 1
2nd and 10 - Barkley for -2
2nd and 11 - Barkley for -3
Q1 summary - 0 for 5, 5 carries for -4 yds
1st and 10 - Barkley for 6
2nd and 4 - Barkley for 20
1st and 15 - Barkley for -3
Q2 summary - 2 for 3, 3 carries for 23 yds
1st and 10 - Barkley for 2
1st and 10 - Barkley for 30
2nd and 10 - Barkley for 0
1st and 10 - Barkley for -4
1st and 10 - Barkley for -1
Q3 summary - 1 for 5, 5 carries for 27 yds
1st and 10 - Barkley for 1
1st and 10 - Barkley for 1
Q4 summary - 0 for 2, 2 carries for 2 yds
Game summary - 3 for 15 (20%) 15 carries for 48 yds
* didn't include Eli's 1 yd rush on 4th and 1.
Conclusion: The team was not successfully run blocking early on, and had their best success in the air.
Imagine telling someone "your running back will have 15 rushes. He will break one off for 30. He will break another off for 20. He'll finish with 48 rushing yards"

Yup. Sounds like a typical Barry Sanders game, except for more touches in the ground game. :)..-2, -3, 0, +2, 70

That’s exactly sane. What the hell did you think was going to happen. We are as predictable as it comes. Until we ran the trick play with OBJ we were going nowhere with SB running the ball and Eli throwing his short yet high passes.
It took almost an act of God to get this offense jump started. And all we did was trade a few extra scores with a few extra turnovers from our turnover-prone QB. I credit Eli for leaving the field with lead but he also ensured it was only only a 1 pt lead too so...
The Giants posted a Pass Block Win Rate (PBWR) of only 5% last night. That's the lowest single-game performance so far this season. Compare that to the Eagles' PBWR of 68% last night. The Giants are now ranked 31st in the league overall with a PBWR of 33%. The Eagles rank 16th at 50%, which is average. PBWR is an ESPN metric powered by Next Gen Stats.

Bad signing, but still, must take a paycut.

Released Olivier Vernon

54m in cap space if we needed to. There is more blood to be had. But, let's see if the team gets fired up after yesterday.

thats only 2 game sample. Consistency is king in the NFL. Let's see how that maps out on Thursday. The Eagles will bring it.
