NFT: What Podcasts are we listening to?

DanMetroMan : 10/9/2018 9:19 am
I'm really digging Serial season 3. No, it's not mind blowing like season 1 but it's extremely well done and far more gripping than season 2 (for me)

- Crime in sports/small down murder... not even sure why I listen to either one of these but occasionally funny and they are long so good waste of time

-WTF

-Stuff You should know

-This American Life

-Happy Face (the story of a serial killer from the perspective of his daughter)

- The Daily

-99% invisible

-Household Name (the story of how some name-brand every day things came to be... 3 buck chuck from trader joe's for example)

Any recommendations? I really like the long form true crime stuff if anyone has any they love

Bill Simmons, Zach Lowe, & The Ringer NBA stuff for sports.

Non-sports: Pod Save America, Larry Wilborn.

is very good.

It's no season 1 good, but a rebound from Season 2 which was quite boring to me.
recently discovered the The Rewatchabales

with bill simmons and crew discussing oldish movies - pretty fun for episodes on movies you enjoy.

Its my first exposure to Simmons, gotta say he is pretty entertaining.

Rewatchables is good. The Die Hard one is pretty funny.

Simmons has Matt Damon on his latest podcast and it's really good so far, the Denzel one was good as well.

I loved the 'Dazed & Confused' one.

Rusillo too. I forgot about him. I think he's one of the better sports personalities around right now.

But I can't say it's nearly as good as Season 1.

If you are into history at all

then try Revolutions Podcast by Mike Duncan. I can't recommend his story telling enough. He's the same guy that did History of Rome for which he won the 2010 best educational podcast. He was asked to write a book on Rome which became a best seller.

The Revolutions podcast focuses on specific revolutions: the English, American, French, Haitian, South America, 1848, Paris Commune, and he's currently working on the Mexican Revolution.

has some pretty interesting takes on tech; Mark Maron's WTF if he's interviewing someone interesting; and I have to bump up Big Blue Banter, since host Nick posts here. It is pretty good, Nick and Dan aren't naturals yet, but they have in-depth takes of all-22 viewings of Giant games.
