Under the current rules, how would Brian Dawkins

Have done?

I can’t see that he would have finished a game. Ever
Been executed

at half time.....
Let’s not do this

He would have been neutered

and thrown out of quite a few games

Why not?

What Collins did wasn’t close to being a penalty. Dawkins targeted his whole career. He’s going to the the hall of fame for trying to hurt players.
He'd likely have been

suspended multiple times and maybe even getting to the point of missing 4-8 games. Unless he switched tactics, he'd have been in major trouble. And rightfully so.
What about LT?
section125 : 10/9/2018 9:53 pm : link
Dawkins was dirty, but LT would have been tossed a few times. Different game and not really for the better.
Leonard Marshall hit on Montana would have been 15 yard penalty
Leg of Theismann : 10/9/2018 10:18 pm : link
For targeting the head and neck area. Automatic first down for 49ers. Could have changed everything.

Marshall hit him in the back.

True, but he went pretty high on the back, and you don't think with the shit they call every Sunday these days that they would call that close enough to the "head and neck area"? At the very least you have to admit it would be "landing with his weight on the QB". Plus it was Joe Montana... I'm just saying if that was a hit on Brady today and the ref saw him laying there practically unconscious you don't think there's any chance they would throw a flag and call some sort of unnecessary roughness for that this year? Really?
These guys all would have adapted

because that's what great ones do. But yeah, Dawkins was dirty--I know that's what you're getting at.
Dawkins will always be a POS

For his cheap shot on Hilliard. I’m sure he had plenty of others
there were a lot of players like him

that were revered, and are still revered by their fans and franchises: atwater, mel blount, john lynch, dennis smith, ronnie lott, to name a few

Jack Tatum killed Daryl Stingley. Not in the moment, but Stingley died as a complication of paralysis.

Tatum's hit was legal and intended to cause damage.

Why do people keep saying this? LT was a sound tackler and the vast majority of his hits would be clean under today's NFL rules. LT didn't lead with his helmet.

The new rules simply enforce sound, proper technique, tackling. Leading with your head down means you can't see what you are hitting.

LT liked to see what he was hitting. LT NEVER went out there to injure a player. He never got over the one well known time he did injure a player. To this day, he avoids talking about the Theismond play.

Go back and watch any of LTs highlight films. His technique is perfect nearly every time. He just dominated so much and was so powerful that it always looked vicious.

Anyway, I feel the rule is fine. The refs just keep screwing up when to throw the flag.

How do you adapt when clean plays draw penalties?
