NFT: West coast road trip - ideas welcome (SF-LA-SD)

Sausalito has a spectacular view of the city and GG Bridge. I like strolling through Sausalito, do a little shopping, and getting something to eat with the family.

Taking two weeks to drive around. No specific itinerary or restrictions. Just hoping to squeeze a little fun into each day. It seems like the coast has quite a bit to try to see.

If you have a few weeks, you can enjoy some range. Some ideas outside SF include:
- Tomales Bay/Pt Reyes Station - cute town, beaches, beautiful drive, and legit oyster farms make this a great day away from the city.
- Wine Country - Napa and Sonoma are typical....off the beaten path would be Dry Creek Valley & Anderson Valley (that’s a bit further...)
- Santa Cruz - go see the vampires

In SF with a kid, I would check out:
- Academy of Sciences
- Discovery Museum
- Baker Beach

Restaurants not to miss:
- Tony’s Pizza - yes, you come to the west cost for pizza.
- SF Taqueria - 24th and York. You’re welcome.
- Wayfare Tavern - a little nicer, but incredibly good fried chicken
- Hardwater - beautiful wall of bourbon

Make sure you hop out to route 1 and eat at nepenthe for lunch or dinner in Big Sur (I'd recommend dinner). Great food, simple menu, the view is spectacular.

+1 on Sausalito. Napa & Sonoma I'd pass on with a baby. Much better with an Uber and overnight stay.

Stop at Stanford on the way to the coast. Campus is beautiful, and you're walking distance from downtown Palo Alto which is fun.


Some great wineries in Santa Cruz if you want to do tastings at half the price of Napa and not hear people tell you about their "Cab lover's Chardonnay".

Carmel is nice - Monterey bay and aquarium are worth seeing. 17 mile drive is really nice

Trolley ride, because you have to
Tour of the ballpark
Fisherman’s wharf
Alcatraz
You can spend days at the park alone
SF is a great city to just randomly take a walk

Take your time driving down to SD. The trip down is the best part. Stop often, explore, no rush!!!! And enjoy

San Francisco is nicer than Eureka.
