...aside from the fact that we can't ever seem to beat this team, is that we are facing a team that is second in the NFL in allowing rushing yards (per carry) at 3.4.
The Giants are in the bottom third in offensive yards per carry at 3.9 yards, and everyone on BBI knows that the figure is inflated by a half dozen magical "Super Mario" runs by Saquon Barkley. In the vast majority of his touches, the best back in the NFL (there, I said it) is stoned the nano-second he touches the ball.
So, if things go as they probably will, Eli is gonna have to pass the ball to move this team tonight, and that means he'll face a pass rush that has sacked him at a scary, alarming rate.
This game will be on the O-line and Eli. That is the biggest challenge.
I think this game is winnable for the Giants. As always, this Philadelphia team holds a mental hex over the Giants. I think that is their biggest obstacle, the belief that they can win.
Their secondary is trash. Today is goin to be a lot of quick passes and probably a pass heavy offense.
Last year the Giants did have success moving the ball through the air. Hopefully the o line comes to play.
People on this board seem very optimistic about tonight, I hope they are correct and can't wait to watch and root for the Giants, but I do not expect a win at all. and think it is very likely the Giants get steamrolled in their own stadium. The main reason being as you stated the Giants will get owned up front when they have the ball.
Our offensive line vs their defensive line
Their pass protection vs. our pass rush
I am not optimistic.
I have no idea where BB'56 finds his perpetual optimism, but I wish I had some of it. Perhaps it's our recent 4-16 record or the fact that the same friends are coming to visit from out of state who were here when the Eagles beat the Giants 27-0 and essentially ended Victor Cruz's career in October of 2014, but I'm taking the opposite approach.
Our OL won't be able to handle their DL, Eli will look as bad or worse than he did against Dallas and probably throw a Pick 6 like he seems to do annually against the Eagles, and even Saquon's best magical Madden-style jukes won't allow him to consistently gain any yardage to negate that. We'll have to revert to short dump off passes, and Wentz will come alive and eat our defense up starting in the mid-to late 3rd Quarter and continuing the abuse through the 4th.
I'll take BB'56's score and invert it. Eagles 31 Giants 10.
Until this trend changes it will continue to feel like an up hill battle.
But hopefully tonight they find a way to win and keep themselves in the conversation for the division.

Eagles pass protection has been horrendous this year.
The rain is going to be a huge factor.

O-line will once again be exposed just as the Cowboys exposed it.

Torrential downpours may cripple any passing attack.
😂😂

I hope not. This is playing into the Eagles hand. Bringing more people into the box is what kills us in the running game.
I hope we spread the Eagles out forcing them to put more defensive backs on the field and open up the running lanes. I hope we see a lot of 4 wide tonight with Barkley as the lone back. The Eagles are really weak in the secondary. We need to take advantage of that. That doesn't mean pass a ton. It means getting them in nickel and dime defenses and running out of that. Give Barkley creases to run. If we are going to win this game we need to stick with the run. It is the only way to keep their pass rush honest. And there is no better way to run than to run against nickel and dime defenses because their secondary is not good.
Going with a loaded box increases the odds that one of our blockers fucks up and the whole play goes to shit. And when that happens everything is so tight that it is hard to find another lane. If you keep the defense spread out the lanes are much wider and they will be weaker up the middle because they may only be able to keep 5 or 6 in the box. If a guy gets beat then Barkley has more room to work with as long as he doesn't try to bounce it outside.
Obviously we need to mix it up but all I am saying is that we are not at an advantage by going with 2 TEs and/or a FB. Our players are not better than their players are so it dramatically hurts us. This allows them to double Beckham easily while still being able to load up against the run.

I guess you haven't seen the Eagles this year. Their offensive line has played horrible.
Love the optimism. One thing we do know is that Doc was first with the "What are we drinking?" meme.

Actually, you and Dep are correct. I have watched them from flipping through the channels but nothing extended and it does appear that their 2018 O-line has been quite bad with pass protection.
I guess I just assumed it was a strength because it was one of the best in the league last year. Mea culpa
Unfortunately, our pass rush might be worse than their pass protection.
There is a silver lining ...
How about Eli with a couple of RPO's on third and one?
How about Barkley throws one or two to OBJ?
How about we come out throwing to OBJ against sorry Darby with Eli rolling out?
How about we come out in nickel and dime and stay that way the whole game and dare Philly to run with their dinged up backup runners?

Lol..o k.
Your streak of producing shitty post after shitty post continues.
You can easily make a case that Barkley is the best back in the NFL - moreso than making the case that you are a fucking competent poster.

Shit, you can make a case that I am the best back in the NFL in that comparison...haha
Beckham then takes a 5 yard slant to the house, getting the tuna can rockin' and starting a debate between dep and the anti-Eli brigade about whether it was a perfectly thrown pass or if Beckham just continues to make Eli look better than he is!
Giants roll the rest of the game and Barkley gets a heavy workload: 25 carries for 150 and 4 receptions for 50 and adds another TD to his total. Go Terps still claims that players like Barkley don't help win games and that there is no plan.
They gained 504 yards and 415 yards against the Eagles defense last year.
The defense has to be better. For the Giants to win the defense has to step play their best game this year.
Assuming equal offensive line play, who is better?
I hope not, the 12 package plays right into the Eagles' strengths. I'd play mostly 11, and spread them out, force their LB's to cover.
Add in fairly regular pick-6 throw by Eli, or some type of odd bounce of the ball that goes Philly's way, and you typically have a NYG loss.
Maybe that hand of god guy turns the tide...

I agree every game is on the Oline but this game is on the defense
Can the Giants defense hold anybody after we hit the go ahead FG or Touchdown .....game is more on the defense imv

Some posters love bringing me up out of the blue.
If Latimer is back use him a bit and don't forget Ellison.
If their DBs suck you force the issue by splitting barks out wide. And gallman ain't chop liver either.
Which move helps either gallman, or Ellison, or Beck's or somebody.
I know we have to get tough and play hard and earn our $. But, this weather reminds me of the game that I played back in ‘68 which ended my career. I now have a 9” plate and 8 screws keeping my right arm in place.
Play hard, play safe and play to win..
Go G’men...
