Let him start the next two weeks.
Cut Tanney and put Lauletta in as the 2nd team QB.
Let Lauletta start after the bye against SF.
Have Eli play the last game of the year in honor for everything he has done for us.
fine with that. As I've said, they need to see Lauletta in real games before heading into the offseason with what will almost certainly be a top five pick.
Stop. They suck but other rookies have to learn behind lines that are shitty too. And since we cut dip shit they are playing well enough to let a rookie figure shit out.
in next week with hardly any practice reps and never being active for a game. Let him get two weeks standing on the sideline. Get use to the calls and how the game is going.
Give him 2 weeks to prep for the the 49ers and go from there.
Who deny that it makes sense to see what they have in a young QB already on the roster before they go into the offseason with what should be a tremendously high pick is stupefying.
If the guy sucks, or if the OL really is so dysfunctional that you don’t learn anything about him, that probably means you’re losing...which helps your draft pick.
It’s right-way risk.
I agree with dep’s plan. But you have to keep it a secret, avoid the media water works, and just do it with conviction when the decided time comes.

thisnis why i think they didnt go after bridgewater...
It happens this year it will be nowhere near as big a deal as last year
The streak is over and the performance is poor. They completely screwed up how they did it last year. That won’t happen again. Soon the team will be 2-10 or something similar and the media will be urging for the change.
If we finish with the first or second pick of the draft and do not take the top rated quarterback available we deserve every bad thing that could ever happen to us For the next 10 years. It will not be a lineman it will not be a defense back it will be a quarterback. We will sign free agents to fill all their needs and then draft what we didn’t sign.
I’m not sure if one more year of that is enough I actually think it will take two before we could be potentially be a good team. The JR legacy is at least a 3 year did imho.
And saying there is no point in giving him some burn in a lost season is about as bad of an Eli-protectionist rationalization as there is. And it’s pathetically transparent.

imagine the outcry right now for a qb change?
In what fairy tale world is Bridgewater anything? He was mediocre in Minnesota when he had prime Adrian Peterson. Christian Ponder tier.
so if and when Lauletta does play.... forget the score. Play both Rbs at the same time. Barkley is a generational talent. No need to overuse him in year 1.
it is not about the results, it is about seeing what you have in lauletta, and it puts a qb back there that can kove a little bit
There’s nothing to see with Lauretta. He’s a noodle armed rookie, no point in feeding him to the lions. Eli makes 20m, he plays.
that is stupid, there comes a point where you have to start looking at what you got...
should of been done last year, but everyone cried...
you have no idea what you have in lauletta
They see it every day in practice. He needs to be polished a bunch more before throwing him out there with the big boys. I could see this happening with 3-4 games left but not before that.
may be true but its a poor decision

Eli will start as long as he is healthy

Why? Won’t change the results.
They have to see what they have

Oh the irony. Calling another poster's comment stupid but saying "should of" in the very next sentence.
Give him a final game at home to let everyone applaud him.

Its not happening here. Maybe he has lost the respect of his teammates. Who knows. Its time to move on.
he cant move and his accuracy has gone to shit...
he couldnt even hit beckham on a simple go route..
Two different FOs tried that - it didn't work.
It might not be Eli - but nobody here is capable of putting the OL that would work for him in place.
Trust the Process...
In the NFL you need a strong pocket arm, and mobility/athleticism is now increasingly important.
I agree to play Lauletta at some point, but don't kid yourself, he is not a long term answer at QB.
