I have to admit, I am beginning to sour on him a bit which is really disappointing. The guy just got rewarded an enormous contract and his behavior is still unstable. I was one of those “he’s just a passionate guy” fans, but I’m beginning to think it is something deeper too. I don’t care if he doesn’t put up the numbers every game because in this league that’s hard to do. But, there are ways to motivate and inspire through adversity, and I think the way Beckham responds adds more negativity than already uninspired group. It’s really too bad. If this guy had even just a little of Barkley’s professionalism and humility, we’d have two studs on offense to confidently build around in the future. Has all the talent in the world, but I get a sick sense he really is only about Beckham (I know teammates love him) or maybe he still just really doesn’t want to be here. It’s really too bad.
Let's think... if Odell acted the way people want him to on the sideline, would Eli have not thrown a terrible pick 30 seconds into the game? Would Nate Solder be earning his money? Would the punt coverage unit tackled better? Would the defense suddenly be more talented?
Stop focusing on things that don't matter. Seriously.
Please.
I guess you already forgot he went on national television to run down his team. He is a classic "cancer" and just plain mentally unstable. He will be gone next year.
i mean, if we're being honest, it was because of Eli's high throw on a slant that got his ankle broken last year. i'd be pissed too
The man wants to win football games.
And I haven't been a big fan of his. I wish he'd drop the hangin-out-with-celebrities stuff, as he doesn't need it. He and Brady are the most recognized guys in the NFL, and it's the biggest sport in the greatest country in the world.

Are you saying the other players on the team dont?

Obviously, Odell's interview is why Eli Manning threw a terrible INT 30 seconds into this game.
The problem with the team is the other parts are talent deficient or terribly underperforming (relative to expectations), not TV interviews. Once again, people are focused on things that don't matter. Larry Fitzgerald is a great guy, but his team sucks too in 2018 because no amount of mythical leadership and humility can lift up shitty, underperforming players. Focus.
Giants fans have no idea how lucky we are to have OBJ.
Now all I hear is the bitching and moaning when most of the people doing it were the ones begggggging to sign him to a long term deal.
Funny thing is whenever I mentioned trade ODB, I got mobbed by people saying..."are you crazy, he's the best player in the league though". THis is a complete joke and ashamed to watch or go to the games.
But Eli's $20 mil cap hit isn't the problem.
Gimme a break
The man wants to win football games.
Refrain of today's bad boy athlete.. I just want to win so much! More than everyone else! I'm so special!

it's important. Just because beat writers ask about something after the game doesn't make it important.

Odell goes on TV and says
(1) the team lacks energy
(2) basically, Eli sucks
one game later, against the eagles
(1) the team lacks energy
(2) Eli sucks
its a trip that NFL players lift weights every day and bang each others head every day....but feelings get hurt so easily
The guy was vastly underpaid from 2014-2017, yet all of the areas of the team that stunk then still stink now. For example, the cap space being used at left tackle doesn't seem to be doing much. Find another excuse.

Eli carried the team to two championships. Beckham spit he bit in one playoff game.

Odell Beckham has more recently earned the money he's being paid than Eli Manning has. That doesn't take away from anything Eli has accomplished... it's just the truth.
and got pssd on the sidelines-- doing nothing to affect his play.
why today is this a hot topic pls?
if you dont like the cap allocation.. fine... if you think from the past... hes a bad egg... fine... but last night was a big fat nothing---

Did I say that? Eli is gone after this season as is his cap hit.

this way if they blame odell they do not have to talk about how eli sucks now...

It’s everyone’s fault but OBJ.
And if he was the "model teammate", would that magically make passes in his direction accurate? Or Nate Solder a good left tackle? Or the defense less of a sieve than it's been for most of his career?

OBJ was on his rookie contract...that is how it works. Draft like shit...and your team will be shit because you have to pay to replace young cost controlled players with veterans.
:)
You love to scapegoat Eli's wide receivers. I remember well how you savaged Nicks, saying he wasn't trying, etc. In reality, he was physically shot. So now its convenient to focus on OBJ's histrionics, as if it had anything to do with the team being terrible.

I didn't say that. Some players handle losing differently, you don't think that interview was calculated? He knows he can force change with his words because of the contract. He knows his QB isn't good enough to get it done.
One thing you can say about Odell, as evident by those two two yard passes he took for first downs, is that when he steps on the field he doesn't quit. Like some guys on the defense have.
god forbid he gets angry the team is playing like shit

I cant wait to call every one here OBJ fan boys or OBJ cultists. OBJ does no wrong.....

And I have given Eli's WRs a lot of credit for his success as well. Which you convienantely do not mention cause it doesnt fit your bullshit narrative.
Yes I got on his WRs who didnt perform like randle and cruz when he didnt return. I dont remember bashing Nicks like you said. But there were a lot of times where he gave up on plays after his injury.
But stay the course my man!
Except they're best friends.

Nope it wouldnt. Be he still does plenty wrong.
if they are winning the little stuff does not become a big deal

But those are things that actually matter in terms of winning and losing football games, not the stuff that people are complaining about in this thread.
Not everyone needs to be a leader or a role model.
If he starts mailing it in on the field I will be concerned but I haven't seen that.
Secondly, Mara gets duped by Accorsi.
Thirdly, Mara gets duped by Gettleman.
Lastly, Mara gets duped by OBJ.
What a last ten months...

Eli's been paid handsomely for his accomplishments. Winning a 'ship 11 and 7 years ago, respectively, doesn't translate into justification for being paid $23 million today.

I think it’s his continued responses when things aren’t going right. The guy is absolutely a competitor and a playmaker. I won’t ever take that away from him. But leaving the team early at the half (AGAIN), the interview (which forces us all to hear about stuff that should be kept in the locker room over and over), and his sideline outbursts still occurring in year 4...I guess it just gets draining. It adds more disappointment to these already crappy games.
after he head butt the fan, what did he scream? i think he was trying to pump himself up and the team as well.
all positive things...but because its odell, the media will spin it however they please
Brady yells all the time...at coaches, at himself, at teammates. but he's tom brady so he's the ultimate competitor
so he leaves the sideline with 2 seconds left to get an IV. he was a little late coming back after halftime, which confirms he was indeed getting an IV. but because the media is trying to persuade you to believe he quit on his teammates....
Ummm, the excuse making for some behaviors borders on a parent enabling a child. Beckham is not the most stable individual and if he were acting like that on any other team 95% of BBi would be ripping the guy.
come on man!

Ummm, I have never seen a guy do less in a half, when it is rainy and damp, who needs an IV. You can call it whatever you want, that is still an issue. Go watch the first half of the opening Monday night game in 1989 with the Gmen at the Skins. LT was a demon the first half. As the half ended he looked exhausted. He needed an IV at half. Beckham has needed an IV two weeks in a row while doing minimal work. Come on, that is a fucking issue!
Shurmur didn’t even comment on the fan. If only they tired of Eli’s as fast as they tired on a top 2 player on this team
TO played for 15 years, had 16,00 recieving yards and 153 TDs. I'll take that even with the occasional sideline frakout
