Not suggesting it, but in the proper circumstances, he could help a supposed contender (Jax?). If they’re going to go with KL for now, should they cut bait? A team would assume the prorated amount left on his contract, but that, I presume can be negotiated (?).
If there is an interested team, what could that bring in trade, iyo?
Teams have until Tuesday, Oct. 30 to make a trade, and 4 p.m. ET is the cut-off time to report a deal to the league office.
What say you?
SF has more than enough cap space available, if they want to make a deal.
Also, remember that as a post June 1 trade, the cap hit is actually not that large. There is the pro-rated $6.2M bonus- but the 2019 roster bonus doesn't count until he is on the roster by the 3rd day of the 2019 season- which would not happen in SF.
Ugh his market trade value is pretty bad right now. I would try to get him out before it has hit absolute rock bottom which is castle approaching.
(;
My guess was if a team felt he was an upgrade, a very late round pick like a 6 or 7.
A team trading for Eli only is on the hook for his salary. So it would be whatever prorated portion of his 10.5M salary is at the time of the trade.
Bortles sucks.
Exactly. Right now he wouldn’t beat out any of the starters for any contending team.
Quote:
Bortles isn't nearly as bad as people make him out. He's actually the perfect QB for their style of play, which is why TC resigned him to a big deal.
Bortles sucks.
as much as it pains me to say it - I rather have him than Eli right now

Bortles sucks.
Bortles sucks but at least he can move. And his OL is not that great either.
Just like every team in the league, the Jags OL struggles to protect Bortles. But he uses escapability to extend plays and even run with the ball.
That's the new NFL.
I don't like it, but it's true. Eli would fail miserably there, as he would any other team in the league at this point. He's a dinosaur. The game has changed and as Aikman said last night it's not very fun to watch anymore.
This is the first time I've agreed the league is in big trouble. The brand of football is not what made the game great. Aikman had his "fuck this" moment when Ogletree got called for the late hit. He flat out said "they're taking the fun out of this".
The NFL doesn't want their color commentators saying this, but it's 100% true.
they lost their Left tackle... are built on defense and running--- and a mobile QB that can extend some drives.
Eli would be horrible for them now
Put it this way, if NYG could afford to put Eli on waivers, would any team claim him (and assume the cap hit)? I doubt it. If he passed through waivers, sure, teams would look into it, but no one is taking on that contract.
2012 eli- lots of suitors- 2014 eli- a handful
2017- maybe 1
2018- zero
And you wanna know why BBI sucks.
Example A. Reveling in the demise of a player/team is just being a shitty fan. There are a lot of them here.
Good OL
Cap space
All this leads to Jacksonville but who wants their QB to suffer a season-ending injury?
Slim and None and Slim left town
top he had next to zero help with the exception of a phenom
named Barley who put on a show last night with very little
help in the blocking department .
If your gonna get anything for Eli its gonna take another
player to go along with him . Someone mentioned Apple
I would counter that with Collins .
That being said, the Jags are having issues with Bortles and Tom is there.
