New article from The Ringer regarding Durant to the Knicks
Durant would be putting his faith in a bunch of young players if he came to the Knicks. It’s no different than what LeBron did with the Lakers, except that Porzingis is far more proven than Brandon Ingram. Durant has been chasing LeBron his entire career, and they could wind up with strikingly similar career arcs. The era of transcendent players staying in one place may be over. Golden State could be Durant’s version of Miami, a place where he learned how to win before taking those lessons to a new franchise that built everything around him. |
Tonight the Knicks finish their last preseason game against the Nets.
Fizdale says Frank will be guarding a power forward tomorrow.

And they open at home against the Hawks! A big tank battle to start the season.

LOL - ESPN ranks us 26th, the Hawks 30th. We may even be the favorites in this game.
Zion isnt going to be able to bully people like he does garbage competition right now. He'll have a place in the NBA but he will never be a star or close to it imo
Romeo Langford sounds intriguing.
I like Knox and Robinson but neither one looks likely to emerge as a star this year. Ditto for Frank
I don't seem him coming to NY to play with a bunch of decent-but-not-great lottery picks

How good do you think Barrett will be?
I can't stand Simmons, but he somehow was able to forge a pretty good relationship with Durant - he produced a behind-the-scenes NBA Finals show on HBO and spoke with Durant quite a bit. I'm sure he has it on good authority that the Knicks are in the mix.

Was listening to Simmons yesterday & he thinks there's a real good chance KD in a Knick next summer.

Yesh, he's had KD on his podcast like 5 times. That's not an exaggeration. Simmons is pretty plugged in.

Can't go wrong with either guy.
KD knows if he wins in NYC, he's a basketball god.
One of the first? He was the top HS recruit.
Usually (especially nowadays) the true franchise caliber players are identified before they play a single college game. Sure, there are guys like Leonard who come out of "nowhere" but on paper there is no Duncan, Shaq, Lebron, Yao type. Not sure why we need to wait to acknowledge that.
He has shot concerns + concerns he's a "bully baller" ala Lance Stephenson. I personally think he's going to be far better than Stephenson, (freak athlete and not a lunatic) but we shall see. Mook watches more college ball than I do, but I still like Williamson. Guys emerge.
To be fair, the Giants just grabbed a generational player this past draft.

speak for hockey but our luck the "generational" talent types don't appear to be in the upcoming NFL/NBA drafts.

For sure. Wasn't taking a shot at Barkley. Just the on paper upcoming NFL draft. Who is the "OMG we need..."?

Really? I don't follow h.s. or college that closely but he looks like an insane mixture of athleticism and size based on the limited amount I've seen. Happy to be proven wrong; just not sure what I'm missing or haven't seen (because I don't watch a lot).

Thanks! Interested to hear if Mook has any additional thoughts, but that is a good synopsis.

Durant stuff isn't BS. He may not end up a Knick but it's legitimate interest

Hard to even know. These guys all seem to talk though I'm not even sure who KP's "guys" are off the court. I will say this... it appears at worst the Knicks will look like a normal franchise vs. a circus given the coach, GM etc so you have to figure the days of the leader of our franchise taking shots at other players are over = players interest in coming here.

yeah probably right...
The Trickle brothers
I was just thinking this. Last year he had his best game against the Nets. So far this preseason his best game was against them as well.
Another game with bad body language in the first half.

I think you’re under selling Knox big time. We can only go on the summer league and his measurables plus pedigree. All three check off a lot of boxes and I guarantee you a redraft right this second sees Knox go higher than 8. Plus, Robinson? Did you see him over the summer? He too goes higher in a re draft. MUCH higher. And KP ? He isn’t a top flight talent.
If KP comes back late this year and shows most of what he had pre injury or even just hints of his former self, the Knicks will have a legit pitch to make. It will come down to whether Durant wants to play in NYC. I think there’s legit smoke this time. We really haven’t ever seen this kind of smoke before.
Nets are immortal from the 3.
