Baldy's Breakdowns - Giants offense

BigBlueinChicago : 10/12/2018 12:32 pm
Baldinger had the tape out again this morning. Man, is it bad.

PLAY 1 - Giants 3 play offense on 1st/20 consist of 2 quick hitch throws and a dump down. Result = punt

Quote:
.@Giants on 1-20 this is their offense. This is a 3 play series. I can’t ever remember this Pillar of a Franchise looking so futile. #BaldysBreakdowns

PLAY 2 - Giants on 2nd/5 line up Simonson one on one with Derek Barnett (WTF?) on an 5 step drop by Eli. The result, Eli is hit, ball wobbles, pass incomplete, potential for INT.

https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1050777669237923840

Quote:
.@Giants #gmen #giants when you put this lousy Gameplan together who thought this was a good idea? SCOTT Simonson v #DerekBarnett. Barnett wins this 1 on 1 100/100 times. What benefit was there to go “unbalanced” here? #BaldysBreakdowns

PLAY 3 - Giants on 3rd and 15 do not challenge the sticks at all. Give up play.

https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1050776293053222913

Quote:
.@Giants I will never understand this mentality. On 3-15 do you have to do EXACTLY what the @eagles want you to do. Not all the time but maybe just maybe you will challenge this picket fence. #BaldysBreakdowns

PLAY 4 - Solder gives up pressure to Bennett. Eli has two hands on the ball as Bennett gets there, but still manages to fumble the ball.

https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1050774951882559488

Quote:
.@Giants had an INT and a Fumble at their 1 yard line in the first 9 snaps. #Bennett lives for hunting season . 9 plays 2 costly errors. This is bad football. #BaldysBreakdowns

HEY! It's no Evan Engram vs. Calais Campbell!
Eagles front four whipped our asses last night

we couldn't block 4 with 5 or 6.
These are the important threads

It shows very clearly that the problems this team has goes WAYYYYYYYY deeper than #10.

He is a problem. Along with plenty of other things.

The flaws in the gameplay from week to week that Baldy has exposes has been the most eye opening thing for me. Usually things that the average fan doesn't see.

gonna blame Eli Manning for that fumble when Solder didn’t even get a hand on Bennett?

Bold.

He shouldn't. Wasn't he 3rd on your list behind Patricia and McDaniels? The Giants themselves sort of settled for him knowing that they needed to fill the role but I think deep down they have always known that he wasn't the guy.

There just wasn't a quality coach out there to be had during the 2018 offseason. Giving Shurmur a 2nd year would be a mistake. The guy is 11-28 as a head coach.

I can see the Giants going for John Defillipo this offseason and making a run at Lincoln Riley as well
OMG!

Rushing four against 6 and still getting there....

How can this OL be so inept year after year?

The Solder play? That would happen with the Patriots, but Tom would step up and around....and yet we gave this guy 22M this year.....
Shurmer and Shuler are clueless

The lack of aggressiveness in hiring by ownership is a major cause of the constant losing.
The bad hires made in the off-season will set this franchise back 5 years.
OBJ and Barkley will be retiring by the time this team gets right.
This guy is a jerk.
DonQuixote : 10/12/2018 12:50 pm : link
Even when he makes a solid point.

For example, you can criticize the dump offs, but not really when the eagles have a seven man picket fence on a 3rd and 10 plus. Eli does not have the time to pass the ball 25 yards down field, it is a very low percentage play, so you dump it off to your best player (Barkley in the first instance and Beckham in the second) and hope for the best. They were close both times.

The Giants are not a good team, and the think to criticize are the plays that got them into those 3rd and 15, 3rd and 20 situations.

A lot of qb get sacked
GiantsRage2007 : 10/12/2018 12:54 pm : link
They don’t seem to fumble with 2 hands on the ball like Eli
It's a defeated mind set..
Bluesbreaker : 10/12/2018 1:00 pm : link
Baldy nails it with Simonsin on Barnett .
These cross field throws take so long to develop
Eagles were licking there chops .
Plays that have no chance of breaking 10 yards unless
Barkley has room to abuse the first tackler .
Otherwise Philly best defense in the NFL vs the run .
They swarm to the ball .
Where were the slants ?
Lattimer poorly under used OBJ poorly over used .
TE invisible .

Aikman blamed him on the broadcast too. Basically said, yeah, but it happens way too much with Eli. Agree. Not all his fault, but he’s inside the 5 so he has to know to at least protect the football. Bad job by Eli.
Agree Larry Flowers

There never seems to be a plan to attach what might be
a weakness its the same bunch of plays and rarely does the
ball travel more than 10 yards .
The run game gets abandoned after 10 points down.

I see the same thing, he saw the pressure and didnt secure the ball. The problem is Eli cannot move, most QB's would have move up to the left.
Very disturbing

.
but here is another question about the Solder/Eli play...
Kevin(formerly Tiki4Six) : 10/12/2018 1:37 pm : link
WTF are they doing playaction inside out 10 yard line when everyone knows they have trouble pass blocking. You are asking for trouble right then and there...
They ran
Cap'n Bluebeard : 10/12/2018 1:43 pm : link
Something very similar to Play #2 last week, except it was a run. Ellison was lined up next to Hernandez singled up against a DE. The worst part? The play was designed to go to that side. Who draws up a running play where you are running at a TE blocking a DE 1 on 1??
Couple of things...
bw in dc : 10/12/2018 1:46 pm : link
On the Solder allowed sack, Eli has a pocket to step into but instead he keeps moving laterally to this right? Just withering instincts...

On the video analysis where the Giants throw short 3X in a row, notice how long it takes Eli's ball to get out there to Lattimor on 2nd down. It was look watching Chad Pennington. Just no zip.

BTW...
bw in dc : 10/12/2018 1:46 pm : link
where is Baldy getting that angle?
3rd play was a screen of sorts
bc4life : 10/12/2018 1:47 pm : link
2 players tried to block the same man. If both had just engaged their man OBJ gets a first down. How does Baldy miss that?

I've noticed that as well
Love Eli
Andrew in Austin : 10/12/2018 2:00 pm : link
but I noticed the speed on his passes as well.

I don't know, but OBJ just doesn't seem as dynamic to me as he normally is in last night's game. Also Shep seems to do something stupid 1x a game as well (like blocking in the back).
Fuck me...
Danthebigbluefan : 10/12/2018 2:14 pm : link
in the goat ass that's some horrid play design and play calling.

Hey, you know what makes sense! Imagine we put our highest paid OL and big FA signing on the OTHER side of the line, because we'll fool them!

But.. who plays LT then?

Get this.. ready? Are you ready? Okay.. okay.. Scott Simonson!!!

MENSA Award goes to...

I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt because of the conditions. None of the balls he threw last night looked tight or with any zip.

But Iooking back at other games earlier today I saw similar issues...
