Eli's goal-line fumble last night - a question

cosmicj : 10/12/2018 12:55 pm
Obviously, an awful play for Solder but what I saw was Eli move forward because he sensed Bennett coming. My interpretation was that Eli knew what was happening but failed to secure the ball and fumbled when he was hit, which was very disappointing. Do you agree that Eli knew Bennett was about to hit him? or was it a classic blindside hit?
I could be wrong but I thought the ball started to slip out of

his hands before he was hit. Either way he's always had this problem
This is 100% on Solder

He was awful, just awful, last night.

Eli had plenty of mistakes but I can't believe he's being blamed for a fumble when tackled by a blindside rusher.
that ball was

coming out before the hit. He panicked when he saw the rusher. Bad play on Solder and Eli
agree with Blue21...

Eli's ball security has never been great (glove or no glove, as they discussed on Fox last night) and the ball was already slipping out of his hand before he got hit...

you can blame Solder, rightfully so, but I have never thought Eli had much pocket presence or awareness...it's almost like he is surprised when he is sacked...

Bennett's hand hit the ball first as the hit was coming. You can see his hand follow through. Regardless, Eli never seems to secure the ball when pressure comes.
Jeez...he had room to step up

if he sensed the pressure....look at the tape....move forward Manning
He cant move.... He should have seen or felt the pressure

and moved up to his left.
What NewBlue said.

That was as much if not more on Eli as it was Solder. He had room to move up and should not have rolled out backwards.

blew by Solder so fast - I felt bad for Eli.

Honestly, with the amount he is getting hit, I am not sure why he wants to be in the game anymore. I pretty much cringe every time he drops back to pass now.

+1.. this was as much Eli's fault as Solder.. In 2018 NFL.. there are may be 5 LT who don't let that happen every now and then.. Solder probably let the same thing happen a few times last year and Brady would've moved up like any good QB and no one remembers Solder's bad play.. with Eli, not only does he not move up, but he doesn't secure the ball and fumbles..
Wow I knew it would be bad today

I watch a lot of Pats. games and Solder was guily of this frequently....perhaps why the Pats. did not give him the big money contract, but Brady would always sense the oncoming rusher and avoid. This is why the overemphasis on how bad our OL is bothers me. Manning is a stutue, this does not work in present day NFL

Yes this is very common across the board.. Solder is an average LT and right now he is playing like an average LT.. Eli makes all his mistakes look really bad.. Also Pats did offer him big money and wanted him back.. he just got more from the desperate giants..

that’s his MO. JC in all his wisdom feels that the Giants are just unlucky with a bad bounce here and there
Bennet didnt
