NGT: Crazy Patriots Stat of the Day

pjcas18 : 10/12/2018 3:55 pm
Great matchup Sunday night, maybe the most interesting match-up of the weekend. Love to see if this stat is still true on Monday after KC @NE

Julian Edelman and Tom Brady have NEVER lost a game to an AFC opponent at Gillette Stadium in a game they both played in

(36-0, 1.000)

absurd

details

And all but 6

were decided by less than a TD, haha.
Sorry

All but 6 were decided by MORE than a TD
They may have averaged
pjcas18 : 10/12/2018 4:09 pm : link
40 points scored per game in these 36 games.
More amazing?
Beezer : 10/12/2018 4:10 pm : link
Just 9 times in those games they didn't score 30-plus. A handful of them they DID score between 27 and 29.
Edelman 232rd overall 7th rounder

And Brady. What? 5th or 6th rounder?

Fast forward...

'And for the first time in 36 contests, the Patriots have lost a home game at Gillette Stadium when both Tom Brady and Julian Edelman played'

...which ultimately set in motion the series of events that led to Bill Belichick assuming the role of GM/HC of the New York Giants.
37 but who's counting...

Probably the person meant to say regular season. I don't believe there are any playoff games in here.

Yes, in fact they did include regular season only

I omitted that part of the tweet.

I know playoff games aren't counted...
BillKo : 10/12/2018 4:50 pm : link
..but didn't Edelman play in the our SB 46?

Wasn't it rumored he might play some defensive back that game due to injuries?

It's a nice made up stat.....I mean, it's like the one where no team that's lost to Tampa has won the SB (still in effect??)

And playoff games, to me, should be part of the equation.

LOL...sorry, at Gillette duh!!!
Giants/NE from 2011 regular season..
BillKo : 10/12/2018 4:52 pm : link
..that was at Gillette!?

Am I being obtuse again?
they could have been part of the equation
pjcas18 : 10/12/2018 4:53 pm : link
if the guy who cited the stat wanted to include them, but as we have learned, if playoff games are included the Patriots are at best 36 - 1. And I think both Brady and Edelman played in the Ravens game in 2009. So at best, I think this would be 36 - 2 with post-season games.

Not undefeated, but still remarkable and goes a little way to dispelling the "patriots have an easy division, that's why they're good" myth.

this was certainly not your finest moment, BillKo. We'll give you a pass after having to watch this shit giants team we're all fucked in the brain
amazing

that jets fans spend their time on BBI and bother correcting things like this when it was clearly regular season only anyways.

Why are Jets fans here? I could see if the Jets were playing the giants this week, but otherwise i have no idea.
Julian PEDelman?

I had a proud parent moment this summer.

I was in the pool with my kids and my youngest and I were playing a game with this giant beach ball. The beach ball was one of those 4 feet beach balls and it would absolutely fly when you hit - like 100 feet in the air. it's fun to play with in the pool, we'd see how many times we could hit it back and forth volleyball style without either of us missing it or it going out of the pool.

At one point I said, hang on it's lost some air and I'm going to fill it up again. My daughter asked me why that matters. I said with less air you can grip the ball better making it easier to catch, it's sort of cheating.

And she said, oh, you mean like the Patriots did?

LOL, my 11 year old. Makes me proud. first off all that she understood and was able to relate it to deflategate, and the smirk on her face when she said it.

anyway, cool story bro, but yeah, I did think it was cool.
