And I will likely get blasted for this ....
Talk to the Ravens about Lamar Jackson. From scouting reports, all he needed was to work on his footwork (which caused some accuracy issues) and some time in an NFL strength and conditioning program. You want a more mobile QB? Can't get more mobile than Lamar. Rocket arm. He can make the difficult throws. Barkley and Jackson could really tire out and give fits to todays' DLs.
Go ahead. Tell me I'm crazy.
What would it take to get him since the Ravens may think he's their heir apparent to Flacco?
BTW, I love Eli Manning so don't think I am bashing him at all with this post. An heir apparent is needed regardless. I'd rather be put on blast about wanting Lamar then read anymore I hate/love Eli Manning threads. I'm just asking for opinions on going after Lamar Jackson. Please and thank you.
Why not both??

why not Mahomes or Mayfield?

They almost have to go this route if we really want to see them run pass-run-pass option.
Nice reply..
Hes going to get bog money from somebody. I dont want to pay him millions. Our team has too many holes. We need to draft the quarterback, let him play on a rookie deal, and build a team around him. Spend FA money on the lime. Draft well and we can be back in 2 or 3 years.
Last night let me realize that just patching up this team will not have us even competing with best teams in the let alone become one of them.
Good news is we really dont have to blow it all up. We already have a couple of stars long term. Now we need the baby eaters up front and some secondary. Apple looked good and if Beal plays as good as he apparently looked in college, we might not have that long to go.
This makes sense if he is willing to sign a 1 year deal. If he was then that would allow the Giants to draft and sit Herbert while actually attempting to make a run at the playoffs. I wouldn't want to plan on Foles being a long term option. He was very good in the playoffs but he hasn't been able to play well on a consistent basis.
Gettleman asleep at the wheel as always
Teddy Bridgewater is another. He's scheduled to be a FA after this year (March 3) and if I understand correctly he cannot be resigned prior due to his contract being rewritten already this year.
Another one would be Tyrod Taylor. He's the kind of guy you could get to come in here and maybe give you a chance for a few games or so while you wait for a younger player with more long-term potential to develop. He's also an UFA after this season.
Besides, Saints traded a 3rd for Teddy. He isn't going anywhere. And people act like he lit it up in Minnesota for some reason.

Bradford makes sense if he is willing to sign for 1 year around 4-5 million with incentives. He was having his best season under Shurmur before he got hurt. He would be a decent stopgap although I would prefer a cheaper option like Fitzpatrick who knows his role. Josh McCown is another cheap solid option. He is a great mentor and basically another coach on the field at this point. He has fully embraced the mentor role and he played surprisingly well when he's been on the field.
Hahahaha

Bridgewater will be a FA. He just restructured his contract in September to free up some cap space. The terms of the restructure were that his remaining years are now voided as of 3/3/2019. He cannot be restructured again.
Check this out for details

Will the Saints try to resign him? Sure. But he will be available, and the fact that they gave up a 3rd rounder for him means nothing.

Also, I'm not suggesting the Giants are going to find someone "special" for next year. I'm suggesting that if they plan to draft a replacement, they might want to bring in a vet who can take pressure off the rookie while he develops.
I know that Bradford is perennially injured. The idea behind signing him is not to be Eli's long-term replacement, but to do what he did in AZ for as long as he can.
Bradford might not be available, but it seems certain that they won't want to pay him $20MM to sit on the sideline.
Also, the fact that both Bridgewater and Bradford have experience playing for Shurmur makes signing them more plausible.
Look, I'm not suggesting these things are certain to happen or are the best-case scenarios. I'm trying to offer up more realistic QB signings in case the Giants move on from Eli after this year.
But good job, good effort.
They traded up in front of us to take Lamjax. I lulzed at the time, but now I thought about it more, seems like it was a real possibility we pick him.
Hernandez is a good consolation prize.

would be Sam Bradford. He's due to make $20MM next yr for AZ and cutting him would save $15MM in cap space for them. I could see Shurmur and Gettleman bringing him in for a time.

UFA after this year, Super Bowl MVP, has had success with Shurmur in the past. It’s not that crazy.

this would be a good stop gap considering the flaming ashes we will be looking at soon and Eli finality. How badly this org has screwed the QB pos is astounding. Might be us some time and he knows the system.
