The player in his own words

Clearly tired of losing and wants things to turn around. Clearly frustrated and doesnt want just more of the same. He also seems like he is very much still searching for the right path, the right outlet.

If this team could just find a way to win so much of this would just be background noise. Like it should be.
Sorry but

I dont believe athing this guys says non related to bettering himself.

He kept his mouth shut until he got paid and then the first sign of adversity he sits w lil Douche Wayne and slams a 2 time Super Bowl MVP and not to mention one of the greatest cities in the world in a span of 15 minutes.

Sorry, he fooled me for about 10 minutes. But now I realize he wont ever change until its too late

The truth hurts, nothing he said was inaccurate. OBJ> Eli

Can we talk about the current state of the team and not what Eli did 11 years ago? How many records did Eli set his first 4 years in the league?

Who cares about what Eli did years ago? I'll go as far as saying that OBJ is a better player at his position than Eli was.
OBJ has been a top 3 or top 4 receiver his whole career and the
BestFeature : 10/13/2018 12:32 am : link
team around him has won nothing, except for one fluke year. Although I will say he didn't help matters in that one playoff game, playing like shit. Still, he's the only reason this team wasn't close to Browns level since he got here. Him being frustrated is understandable. Why are only fans allowed to be frustrated?

Bingo
This may shock some people
Emil : 10/13/2018 12:56 am : link
But its entirely consistent to simultaneously praise Eli for what he has meant to the Giants, believe that as of October 2018 he is no longer the QB the Giants can win with, and that OBJ is a more important player to the Giants present and future.

These hard, meme driven, absolutist camps are the definition of why fan is short for fanatic. Eli is not the problem vs Its all his fault. OBJ is a selfish player and a distraction vs Hes a generational talent and difference maker. And the latest one The Giants should trade the diva Beckham and build around the workhouse Barkley who is far more mature.

Its truly an insane time right now to follow this team. The Giants need to find a way to win. Its the only thing that will stop this madness.

Exhibit A of my post above.
Can anyone tell me what Beckham has done that matters?
Go Terps : 10/13/2018 1:13 am : link
Even at LSU... Can you point to anything? Anything at all?
How could anyone say Beckham>Eli?
Go Terps : 10/13/2018 1:25 am : link
Anyone that is older than age 7 can't possibly feel that way.

Unless there is a huge change Beckham will end up a nothing in the history of the Giants. Eli is at worst a top five Giant ever.

This must be a generational thing I don't get where Instagram followers and shitty tattoos matter more than Super Bowl titles.

You cant rest on the laurels of titles 7 years after theyve been won. Eli is the greatest QB in Giants history, but he hasnt played well in 3 years and the Giants have scored 30 points once in that time. We cant let 2007 and 2011 cloud our judgment anymore. I wish it wasnt so but it is.

And to reduce Beckham to tattoos and Instagram followers is perhaps the most ignorant counter argument Ive ever heard. OBJ will pass all but Amani Toomer as the Giants all time leader in receiving yards this year and is on a frenetic pace to catch Toomer. Sure, he hasnt won a championship yet, but last I looked Eli didnt throw that winning TD pass in 2007 to himself.

Eli has been done for years

But has given this franchise many of their most amazing years
Beckham has been and apparently is still a winning culture cancer while filling up personal stats and not putting the team first.

I can believe both and until either proves otherwise im right.

Nobody ever is going to believe Odell

Because theyve made up their minds.

The guy wants to win. Not a single player on this team works as hard as he does.

He worked his ass off to come back. He doesnt have a right to be frustrated about the team being 1-5 again, and the quarterback not being good enough anymore?

Damn fucking right he does.

Barkley hasn't done anything yet either. Unfortunately Eli is 38 years old, and this team's best hope for the future is finding a young QB, and building around that QB, Beckham, and Barkley

Your hatred of Beckham is starting to present itself as a mental illness rather than a rational thought-out opinion. Did you have some previous life trauma involving simulated urination?
Beckham
crick n NC : 10/13/2018 7:50 am : link
Seems to be too concerned what other people think about him, which in my opinion is a tough way to live life. He is constantly trying to set the record straight to change the opinion of others. Now I know he'll say he couldn't care less what others think, but to me his actions say something different.

I definitely think people are too hard on the guy for his mistakes. The problem with being hard on him for his mistakes is that we all are in the same boat when it comes to making mistakes, as in we all make mistakes everyday, and often the same ones over again. I certainly don't agree with his approach of taking issues outside of the team. One of the things I loved about Coughlin was his approach of keeping issues where they belong.

Danny Kanell : 10/13/2018 8:06 am : link
I tried to watch that with an open mind. I tried to hear his message without any pre-conceived notions. I really tried. But that may have been the most narcissistic 11 minutes of video Ive ever heard.

I understand his stardom goes above football. I understand hes bigger globally than pretty much every NFL player. Hes as big a celebrity as there is in sports so I understand things are different for him than everyone of his peers.

But he needs to concentrate on being great at football. He has an important voice on the team. But that voice should be private, not to Josina Anderson because he thought it was a safe space, or smashing his head on a fan, or having tirades for the cameras, or lifting his leg like a dog, etc.

This video just confirmed to me its who he is. Hes never going to change. He has every right to be frustrated. We are all pissed off at the failures of the organization. But you cant expect to air those in a safe space on TV and not realize thats not the way to handle it. He doesnt realize it because he has an extreme level of narcissism. Its incurable. And these things negatively affect the clubhouse because hes a star to his young teammates too. Guys out of college who have been looking up to him for years. It infects them as well and has a negative domino effect.

Hes an amazing football player but I honestly believe when hes gone, the Giants organization will ultimately be better for it.

Flame away.
You can hate beckham i really do not care

But i love how every time the giants lose it is Beckhams fault, team sucks it is beckhams fault, eli throws a pick beckhams fault, defense gives up a touchdown beckhams fault...

So he personally is a loser because the giants suck? he is a loser because when he was in college lsu had no qb play?

and the whole banging his head on the fan, did it effect the giants? did he cause a penalty? no some players need to do stupid stuff like yell at themselves or bang their head to get themselves going. the only reason you see it is because a camera is always on him. what you do not see, him before games playing catch with little kids, shaking every service man or womans hands, during the game talking to his teammates and coaches.

Have you ever seen him get into an altercation or screaming match with one of his teammates? never..

jjst because he has tattoos and crazy hair and screams at himself does not make him a cancer..

you want to blame every little thing on beckham fine, that is your perogative but getting rid of a talent like him is freaking stupid, just ask the raiders if they would love to have mack back.
and before i am called a beckham apologist
nygiants16 : 10/13/2018 8:22 am : link
If they traded Beckham tomorrow i would still root for the giants, i would think it is stupid but i root for the name on the front not back....

However, this behavior has to stop. He will force management's hand to move away from him.

I agree that we should move on from Eli. I hoped the newly revamped OL would make this team somewhat competitive. Didn't work out. Time to rebuild. However, what if Eli's replacement struggles? Will OBJ continue to rant or be patient?

i think he would help the new qb but of course he will be frustrated with losing..

but look at it this way, even shurmur was frustrated with eli on thursday..

how many times have we seen beckham run free only for eli to check down

That post is spot on. Odell has not learned & for all his talent, the drama/antics is too much to take.

He had his meltdown with the fan right after Saquon scored a TD, that wasnt enough to fire him up? Its always something.

I dont know if he was shopped last spring. Were the Giants asking for 2 first rounders in return? If they were, no one pounced on it. You know who did pounce on that price though? The Bears for Khalil Mack.

Beckham has become a great player on a bad team here. He has represented losing & his antics are very tiring. I agree with Kanells post about the pre-Beckham Giants, I miss it too. It all still feels the same to me.

If it was up to me, Id trade Beckham (dont know the cap impact), this team needs a fresh look. Take these next few weeks to trade anyone who can yield assets going forward. Id start Lauletta and truly move on to the next era if NYG football.

I saw a comment made by Terps regarding who the core is right now & I fully agree - Lauletta & Barkley. Lets see what we have.
What has Julio Jones ever won?
UConn4523 : 10/13/2018 8:34 am : link
What has DeAndre Hopkins ever won?

Such a stupid fucking argument. The Falcon, Texan, and Giants problems have nothing to do with the WRs. The team around them arent doing their jobs. Texans cant run the ball, Atlanta has a horrific defense, and everyone but Barkley sucks on this Giants team which includes Eli.

they were winning before beckham because eli was elite and theybhad a great offensive line..

how quickly people forget how horrible eli was the couple of years before beckham and how beckham saved eli..

Eli was statistically the worst QB in the NFL in 2013.

Then Odell came along in 2014/2015 and masked a lot of issues.

Then 2016 came along, Odell one a couple games taking slants to the house and the d was #2.

17 the offensive problems were still there, then no Odell and bad d

the antics of uber-talented, immature, diva WRs that have come thru the NFL is not a new phenomenom.

Its the Larry Fitzgerald-types that are rare...

Even Michael Irvin knew when to shut it.

Hes as big a celebrity as there is in sports so I understand things are different for him than everyone of his peers

Very well said. And most likely true .

Flame away.
Lucky me...

i am lucky to have my favorite entertainment WR and RB in same team. All we missing is the QB and dynasty has begun.

Although OBJ doesnt look the same this year, a bit slower
The hate for OBJ around here is pretty disturbing

He's upset that we're losing. I can't see that as a bad thing.
OBJ's been drawing double coverage

Barkley has been getting extra attention. This should have been a relatively simple proposition if the OL could be at least halfway decent at their job and if Eli were still up to the challenge.

Instead, it has been a complete train wreck. Blame Beckham for having a big mouth, he's guilty of that - but he's a much bigger part of the way out than he is a reason why we're in this mess to begin with.

is still out to me on if signing Beckham will be good for winning long term. Selling jerseys and making money sure, but winning, I sure hope so

I agree with those on this thread expressing concern about Beckham and a rookie QB. I also think narcissism is the death of a football team and Beckham clearly believes he is the center of all existence. Personally, this rubs me the wrong way and although I can not prove it, Beckham as a leader for incoming young players in the locker room will not be a positive thing.

I also always come back to the playoff game. Not only did he play badly, his party boat bull shit and asinine look at me shirtless display before the game are massive negatives in my book. Just behaviors that are not conducive to winning. Then he and the WR went out wnd let the team down in Lambeau.

Then there is the balls to say in a TV interview you do not like living in NY. A Month after the team pays you ninety million. Owners must have loved that. That interview was I, I, I and me, me, me. To me that attitude is deadly in football. In football all must come together on the field. It also shows me he thinks he is above the team. Just not a good look.

One final point, but who threw Beckham all those passes allowing him to become so famous early in his career? Many act like Beckham saved Eli when to me it is likely that playing with Eli to start his career helped make Beckham, and you can see how grateful he is with the way he shit on his QB in the interview.

I root hard for Beckham as I do all Giants, hopefully this will all get turned around.

Watch this stuff? I absolutely love watching the guy play football. He's been just about the only thing with watching on the giants since he joined the team. Can't imagine wanting to watch him do whatever it was he was doing for 11 minutes on a video.
