Am I the most optimistic (possibly stupidly) on BBI?

SicilianGMEN : 10/13/2018 1:44 pm
Ok, the team has looked awful for most of the season. I get it, and I'm sure to catch a lot of flak on here in replies but I find myself looking at the standings everyday and hoping for the other 3 teams in the division to lose so we remain alive (even if it's very unlikely).

Cowboys could easily lose to the Jags tomorrow and same with Washington to the Panthers. That would put us 2 back with the other 2 teams only 1 and 1.5 ahead. Many people in here stated if we can get to the bye at 4-4 or 3-5 then the season will still set up decently with the 2nd half of the season much easier. Washington and the Falcons are only minimally better than us it seems and would it shock the hell out of most of you to see the Giants win these 2 going to the bye? Like Gidie said in a thread started earlier today, I get so excited to watch 16 games that take up 1/3 of the year, for better or worse I tend to wait until we're basically mathematically eliminated to stop caring.
Playoffs?

I'm optimistic about doing so badly that we'll get to draft a good qb

Yes, it's quite possible
Doomster : 10/13/2018 2:05 pm : link
that a 9-7 record could win the division....

But the Giants will be nowhere near that....

That picket fence of defenders at the first down mark must be giving Eli sleepless nights...
We've played

this game before the last few seasons. Thinking they still have a shot to turn it around..and it never happens. Eagles are going to run away with the division by year end.

You are focusing on the wrong thing. At this point the NFC East standings are meaningless to this team. NYG have structural problems as a team and perhaps as an .org. This could take yrs to fix.

I would look to seeing this team play with some: pride, smarts and heart and do so consistently. Winning a few more games would be nice.
Honestly I don't see them winning 5 more games to finish

6 and 10.
I believe you are
pjcas18 : 10/13/2018 2:27 pm : link
yes.
The Giants just lost 34-13 against a division rival AT HOME.

The OL sucked (yet again). The QB is shot. The defense got pushed around like shopping carts.

The ONLY reason to watch or care about the Giants is Barkley. Damn is he fun to watch. But in no way shape or form should there be any optimism about this season from a team perspective.

I have to say this. I have never seen a 300+-pound man get rag dolled as Omameh got from Cox. Cox looked like King Kong swatting a biplane out of the air.

As ridiculous as this sounds

Beat Atlanta and Washington. Who the fuck knows? Shit happens? I'm a fan a root for my team to win!

And Lauletta, finally we have a scheme fit QB. It seems this regime understands how to find value through scheme, which is critical in the NFL. Belicheat is a master. Walsh understood, you get lower valued QBs like Montana, Young, Favre, Rodgers...

Season. No one can tell you whom or what to root for.

If it gives you something to root for, good for you.
Eagles aren't running away with anything

I don't see the Giants making a playoff run this year. I thought, at best, if everything fell right, they could be making a run for a Wild Card 9-7, delusional 10-6.

6 games, 1 win. 4 against playoff teams, including Champs. With execption of Dallas & Eagles - Giants were in every game. Lost one witha 65 yard FG.

It's mainly about the OLine. They are getting better, regression against the Eagles notwithstanding. Probably need to add two quality OLine starters to OLine to start thinking about playoffs.
Season

Won’t tell you how to root or watch but I see no scenario the giants are in the division hunt. Already 0-2 in div and more importantly they haven’t been competitive for most of the season. They are currently a very bad team- very possibly the worst team in the league.
which one

of those four does Lauletta remind you of most?
The team

is 1-5 and has looked pretty pathetic for the most part. And, you think they have a shot at winning the division? GTFO.

the OL are 4 turnstiles the WR is a nut job and the season is over.
I don't ever stop caring...I watch every snap of every game regardless

of the standings or their chance at the playoffs. I always want to see good play ... and watch individual players develop...
I could see us winning 5-6 games.....
BillKo : 10/13/2018 10:34 pm : link
......most important, I think, is Shurmur keeping this team together and battle every week.

Thursday was bad matchup in a few ways.....the Eagles match up perfectly with us and it was a short week.

The Giants were a tired, and demoralized team, after what happened in Carolina. A hot day combined with travel.....I think it hurt them four days later. The Eagles were at home on Sunday, and their travel entailed just a bus ride up the turnpike. Not making excuses, but also trying to look at things realistically.

If the seesaw season of playing competitively versus looking like a dog team continues every other week, we should do decently in ATL.

5-6 wins is certainly obtainable, plus we are sure to start getting some breaks (ball bounces and calls).
I’m not giving up, especially given the 6 wins could and might
Big Blue '56 : 10/14/2018 8:08 am : link
win the division and in this non-rebuilding., parity league, team’s like us with talent on both sides of the ball could catch fire. I’ll never forget the Prior year’s SB champs, the Saints, going into the division winning Seahawks, they of the 7-9 record and losing to them. Astounding, albeit an obvious outlier imo.

Still, a 1-5 start and 0-2 in the division, leaves very little margin for error

The sooner you realize it, the better. We suck. Our offense blows. Our defense blows. Our STs blow. Our coaching blows. Our FO blows. Our ownership blows.
