Ok, the team has looked awful for most of the season. I get it, and I'm sure to catch a lot of flak on here in replies but I find myself looking at the standings everyday and hoping for the other 3 teams in the division to lose so we remain alive (even if it's very unlikely).
Cowboys could easily lose to the Jags tomorrow and same with Washington to the Panthers. That would put us 2 back with the other 2 teams only 1 and 1.5 ahead. Many people in here stated if we can get to the bye at 4-4 or 3-5 then the season will still set up decently with the 2nd half of the season much easier. Washington and the Falcons are only minimally better than us it seems and would it shock the hell out of most of you to see the Giants win these 2 going to the bye? Like Gidie said in a thread started earlier today, I get so excited to watch 16 games that take up 1/3 of the year, for better or worse I tend to wait until we're basically mathematically eliminated to stop caring.
But the Giants will be nowhere near that....
That picket fence of defenders at the first down mark must be giving Eli sleepless nights...
I would look to seeing this team play with some: pride, smarts and heart and do so consistently. Winning a few more games would be nice.
The ONLY reason to watch or care about the Giants is Barkley. Damn is he fun to watch. But in no way shape or form should there be any optimism about this season from a team perspective.
I have to say this. I have never seen a 300+-pound man get rag dolled as Omameh got from Cox. Cox looked like King Kong swatting a biplane out of the air.
And the Giants were the shot in the arm ffs.
If it gives you something to root for, good for you.
6 games, 1 win. 4 against playoff teams, including Champs. With execption of Dallas & Eagles - Giants were in every game. Lost one witha 65 yard FG.
It's mainly about the OLine. They are getting better, regression against the Eagles notwithstanding. Probably need to add two quality OLine starters to OLine to start thinking about playoffs.
of those four does Lauletta remind you of most?
Thursday was bad matchup in a few ways.....the Eagles match up perfectly with us and it was a short week.
The Giants were a tired, and demoralized team, after what happened in Carolina. A hot day combined with travel.....I think it hurt them four days later. The Eagles were at home on Sunday, and their travel entailed just a bus ride up the turnpike. Not making excuses, but also trying to look at things realistically.
If the seesaw season of playing competitively versus looking like a dog team continues every other week, we should do decently in ATL.
5-6 wins is certainly obtainable, plus we are sure to start getting some breaks (ball bounces and calls).
Still, a 1-5 start and 0-2 in the division, leaves very little margin for error
